Introduction to the FIFA 18 Premier League Squad Guide
Building a team is the biggest challenge in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team. It doesn’t need to be the best team, this is because the budget may not allow it, but it needs to be the player’s stature for him to obtain success.
When choosing which players to play with, you will have to look carefully at their attributes. Choosing a team based on ratings is one of the most common mistakes on FUT 18. It’s precisely this aspect that this guide focuses on. For each position, and focusing on the truly important attributes, we’ll show you who are the best athletes to choose.
It’s also important that the player checks to see if the player he chooses fits the formations he likes to play in. For example, a good full back will be useless if the player only uses a formation with three defenders. According to these formations, the player must be cautious and look at the work rate. Try to relate them with the ones we advise in our Formations Guide.
Last but not least, it’s mandatory that you tune all of your team so that the individual and team chemistry will be as high possible. For this last step to be easier, the majority of the players start to define the type of team they’re building. Some choose to gather players of the same nationality, while others decide to form a team of players from the same league. There are also more experienced players that can form hybrid teams without damaging team chemistry a lot.
All of these steps are necessary to have; or it could mean that the team is not always well built as it could be. This article aims to help those that want to form a FIFA 18 Premier League squad. Even the players that have a EPL team, could take out some valuable conclusions from this guide that could help you make your team even better.
We received thousands of comments about similar guides that we have published in previous years. Most of them have asked us to help improve their teams and the players they had. It’s important that the readers understand that this guide is simply guidance. It’s a theme too vast and the player combinations are almost infinite. Besides, there are various factors that influence the choices, like one’s style of play, the formations used, the available budget, the preferences or even the time spent playing. There’s still one uncertain component: a good player for someone might not be for another. If there was a better team everyone would fight to get it. Part of the fun of FIFA 18 Ultimate Team is this: everyone has their personal club and players.
Another important point and that must stay very clear is that whoever is reading this guide, it’s about some criteria we chose and should be of everyone’s knowledge:
✔️ Only Gold Players
In this guide we didn’t consider silver or bronze player. Most players don’t assume them to be a better option than gold players, so to simplify the guide’s analysis we didn’t include them. In the future we may come to publish guides exclusively talking about these qualities.
✔️ Only Regular Players
In this guide we didn’t consider In Forms (IF). They’re extremely expensive and in most cases are not considered good value for money. They should only be used by players with generous budgets, that already have the best team possible and that want small upgrades.
✔️ Only Normal Players
In this guide we didn’t consider players that have been transferred to other clubs or that have been reviewed (UP). Only players that started their season in the Premier League and with their original attributes were considered.
✔️ Only Original Attributes
In this guide we didn’t consider changes made on a players performance such happens when applying training or chemistry styles cards.
✔️ Position Analysis
To make the comprehension of this guide easier we divided the players in ten distinct groups in order of their original position: Goalkeeper (GK), central backs (CB), right backs (RB and RWB), left backs (LB and LWB), central defensive midfielders (CDM), central midfielders (CM), central attacking midfielders (CAM), right midfielders (RM, RW and RF), left midfielders (LM, LW and LF) and forwards (CF and ST).
✔️ Fluctuation of Prices
In the chapter where FIFA 18 Premier League squads are suggested, we added a link where you can check anytime the updated prices.
Premier League
No league is as spectacular as the main football competition in the United Kingdom. The champions in the second biggest league in the world are made through the made points system. Whichever team gathers the most points wins the league. The top four teams gain access to the champions league of the proceeding year, while the last three trade places with the first three promoted teams from the Football League Championship. Every season starts in August and finishes in May, having 38 game weeks with 10 matches each, being a total of 380 matches per season.
The Premier League is the most watched football league in the world, broadcasted in 212 countries and in more than 600 million homes. It’s also the second football league with more assists and the second best league classified in the UEFA league coefficients.
Since the competition began in 1992 the Premier League has only been conquered by six clubs. The dominant club is Manchester United, with a total of 13 titles. London’s teams together only won the league eight times while Manchester City won it twice. The outsiders Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City did it once.
The team making decisions are made tougher, but in a good way because of the vast quality of players in the league. Keep in mind since it is in the United Kingdom where FIFA 18 is played the most, the Premier League is the most seen inside game’s teams. This means it is also the most expensive league, so it is not recommended for players with a limited budget.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Goalkeepers
GK
Goalkeepers are the players that are used least on the field. Because of this they are also first ignored when building a team. Most players start their purchases with a forward, later they strengthen the midfield, the defence and only later the goal. The truth is a good goalkeeper may be worth a lot of goals. They are a good investment because they are normally the most economically accessible players.
The goalkeepers with most prestige in the Premier League are the young stars Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea. With having the best rating they are also the most searched for by this league’s teams so this makes them more expensive.
De Gea | 90 | Manchester United | ESP |
Thibaut Courtois | 89 | Chelsea | BEL |
Hugo Lloris | 88 | Tottenham Hotspur | FRA |
Petr Čech | 86 | Arsenal | CZ |
Ederson | 83 | Manchester City | BRA |
Kasper Schmeichel | 83 | Leicester City | DEN |
Orestis Karnezis | 82 | Watford | GRE |
Claudio Bravo | 82 | Manchester City | CHI |
Asmir Begović | 82 | Bournemouth | BOS |
Joe Hart | 82 | West Ham United | ENG |
Jack Butland | 81 | Stoke City | ENG |
Simon Mignolet | 81 | Liverpool | BEL |
Loris Karius | 80 | Liverpool | GER |
Tom Heaton | 80 | Burnley | ENG |
Sergio Romero | 80 | Manchester United | ARG |
When choosing a good goalkeeper it’s not only down to his rating. There are two fundamental attributes for choosing a good goalkeeper: reflexes and diving.
The first measures a goalkeeper’s agility when making a save. The best on this aspect are Hugo Lloris, De Gea and Courtois.
De Gea | Manchester United | ESP | 90 |
Hugo Lloris | Tottenham Hotspur | FRA | 90 |
Thibaut Courtois | Chelsea | BEL | 88 |
Ederson | Manchester City | BRA | 87 |
Kasper Schmeichel | Leicester City | DEN | 86 |
Gomes | Watford | BRA | 86 |
Jack Butland | Stoke City | ENG | 85 |
Loris Karius | Liverpool | GER | 85 |
Orestis Karnezis | Watford | GRE | 84 |
Simon Mignolet | Liverpool | BEL | 84 |
Łukasz Fabiański | Swansea City | POL | 84 |
Ben Foster | West Bromwich Albion | ENG | 84 |
Adrián | West Ham United | ESP | 84 |
David Ospina | Arsenal | COL | 84 |
Joe Hart | West Ham United | ENG | 83 |
Diving is a fundamental attribute when choosing a goalkeeper. It measures the capacity for a goalkeeper to make a save when jumping.
De Gea is also the best one with this attribute, with a slight advantage over Lloris. For those who are looking for the cheaper solution, Karius is a valid alternative.
De Gea | Manchester United | ESP | 90 |
Hugo Lloris | Tottenham Hotspur | FRA | 88 |
Thibaut Courtois | Chelsea | BEL | 85 |
Loris Karius | Liverpool | GER | 84 |
Kasper Schmeichel | Leicester City | DEN | 83 |
Joe Hart | West Ham United | ENG | 83 |

Claudio Bravo | Manchester City | CHI | 80 |
The most experienced Ultimate Team players know that another leaning factor on a goalkeeper’s performance without considering the remaining four attributes: height. The more tall a goalkeeper is, better his chances of having a clean sheet.
This is where Courtois is better than De Gea. Even though he can’t be considered a short goalkeeper, the truth is United’s goalkeeper is 8 cm short of the mighty Fraser Forster, this gold goalkeeper holds the title of tallest Premier League Goalkeeper. Cech is a very tall goalkeeper while Lloris and Claudio Bravo make both part of the shortest goalkpeers of this league.
Fraser Forster | Southampton | ENG | 201 / 6′7″ |
Thibaut Courtois | Chelsea | BEL | 199 / 6′6″ |
Asmir Begović | Bournemouth | BOS | 199 / 6′6″ |
Maarten Stekelenburg | Everton | NED | 197 / 6′6″ |
Petr Čech | Arsenal | CZ | 196 / 6′5″ |
Joe Hart | West Ham United | ENG | 196 / 6′5″ |
Jack Butland | Stoke City | ENG | 196 / 6′5″ |
Jonas Lössl | Huddersfield Town | DEN | 195 / 6′5″ |
De Gea | Manchester United | ESP | 193 / 6′4″ |
Simon Mignolet | Liverpool | BEL | 193 / 6′4″ |
Ben Foster | West Bromwich Albion | ENG | 193 / 6′4″ |
Artur Boruc | Bournemouth | POL | 193 / 6′4″ |
Alex McCarthy | Southampton | ENG | 193 / 6′4″ |
Sergio Romero | Manchester United | ARG | 192 / 6′4″ |
Gomes | Watford | BRA | 191 / 6′3″ |
De Gea is undoubtedly the best option to the goal. He has the best reflexes and diving, the two most important attributes, in the entire Premier League. It’s much more difficult to pick the second best goalkeeper. In our opinion, this position is in good hands (literally) whether you choose Thibaut Courtois or Hugo Lloris. The two goalkeepers are similar stat-wise for the most important attributes. If we had to pick one, it would be Coutois because he is much taller.
In terms of cheaper goalkeepers, our suggestion goes for Petr Čech, the fifth tallest of Premier League. For those who want an even cheaper option, Kasper Schmeichel and Ederson are also good alternatives.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Centre Backs
CB
A goalkeeper task is made easier if in front of him are quality central backs. Their function is to stop the opponent from getting dangerously close to your team’s goal.
Toby Alderweireld and David Luiz are the centre back with best reputation in the Premier League.
Toby Alderweireld | 86 | Tottenham Hotspur | BEL |
David Luiz | 86 | Chelsea | BRA |
Azpilicueta | 85 | Chelsea | ESP |
Jan Vertonghen | 85 | Tottenham Hotspur | BEL |
Vincent Kompany | 85 | Manchester City | BEL |

Laurent Koscielny | 84 | Arsenal | FRA |
Gary Cahill | 84 | Chelsea | ENG |
Virgil van Dijk | 83 | Southampton | NED |
Joel Matip | 83 | Liverpool | CAM |
Nicolás Otamendi | 83 | Manchester City | ARG |
Antonio Rüdiger | 82 | Chelsea | GER |
Eric Dier | 82 | Tottenham Hotspur | ENG |
Marcos Rojo | 82 | Manchester United | ARG |
On a centre back, two attributes assume particular importance on their performance: defending and physical, which represents strength, stamina, aggression and jumping.
A player with good at defending will have an easier chance of dispossessing the opponent and avoid him reaching your box.
It’s the case of Toby Alderweireld. It’s really hard to get past them. The most experienced players, like Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, are normally those who have a higher rating with this attribute..
Toby Alderweireld | Tottenham Hotspur | BEL | 87 |
Azpilicueta | Chelsea | ESP | 86 |
Jan Vertonghen | Tottenham Hotspur | BEL | 85 |
Laurent Koscielny | Arsenal | FRA | 85 |
Per Mertesacker | Arsenal | GER | 85 |

Vincent Kompany | Manchester City | BEL | 84 |
Eric Bailly | Manchester United | IVC | 84 |

Shkodran Mustafi | Arsenal | GER | 83 |
Virgil van Dijk | Southampton | NED | 83 |
Nicolás Otamendi | Manchester City | ARG | 83 |
Antonio Rüdiger | Chelsea | GER | 82 |
The physical attribute shows the old heading capability but also how likely the players are to win game with their body. This is a crucial attribute when looking for the best centre back.
In this chapter, the players from the Premier League are very balanced.
Virgil van Dijk | Southampton | NED | 85 |
Eric Dier | Tottenham Hotspur | ENG | 85 |
Mamadou Sakho | Crystal Palace | FRA | 85 |
Eliaquim Mangala | Manchester City | FRA | 85 |
Florian Lejeune | Newcastle United | FRA | 85 |
Eric Bailly | Manchester United | IVC | 84 |
Ryan Shawcross | Stoke City | ENG | 84 |
Robert Huth | Leicester City | GER | 84 |
Vincent Kompany | Manchester City | BEL | 83 |
Marcos Rojo | Manchester United | ARG | 83 |
Davinson Sánchez | Tottenham Hotspur | COL | 83 |
Chris Smalling | Manchester United | ENG | 83 |
Kurt Zouma | Stoke City | FRA | 83 |
Michael Keane | Everton | ENG | 82 |
Dejan Lovren | Liverpool | CRO | 82 |
Defending and heading may be useless against fast opponents. It’s necessary to fight fire with fire. No one likes feeling impotent when seeing you get overrun by extremely fast players. Even though, in a way, centre backs aren’t that fast, every team needs one of these players with a high pace attribute.
This is where Huth and Mertesacker are weak. Kompany is also much less interesting than he was a few years ago because his pace was reduced again. ,There are much faster players in the Premier League. The first on the list is Azpilicueta, a great addition to this position, now that he moved from the left to the center.
Azpilicueta | Chelsea | ESP | 79 |
Eric Bailly | Manchester United | IVC | 78 |
Nathan Aké | Bournemouth | NED | 76 |
Laurent Koscielny | Arsenal | FRA | 75 |
Antonio Rüdiger | Chelsea | GER | 74 |
Chancel Mbemba | Newcastle United | DRC | 74 |
Virgil van Dijk | Southampton | NED | 73 |
Christian Kabasele | Watford | BEL | 73 |
Michael Keane | Everton | ENG | 72 |
Chris Smalling | Manchester United | ENG | 72 |
Aleksandar Dragović | Leicester City | AT | 72 |
Marcos Rojo | Manchester United | ARG | 71 |
Davinson Sánchez | Tottenham Hotspur | COL | 71 |
John Stones | Manchester City | ENG | 71 |
David Luiz | Chelsea | BRA | 70 |
David Luiz, Eric Bailly and Azpilicueta are clearly the best centre backs of this league. It’s not easy to choose the best one from these three. The work rates of David Luiz are now much better, while the pace of the other two should not be ignored.
In our opinion, Alderweireld and Virgil van Dijk are the centre backs who are closest to the trio in terms of overall quality.
Pace is still very important in FIFA 18 (yes, sooner or later they will patch the game) and for that reason, unless you play with three centre backs, we suggest you avoid using Mertesacker and other very slow defenders.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Right Backs
RB | RWB
Full backs have the role of troubling the job of wingers. In addition, good full backs also support their team mates on offensive manoeuvres.
The world-record deal for a defender brought to Kyle Walker even more popularity. Valencia is the only right-back from the Premier League who has such a big rating.
Kyle Walker | 83 | Manchester City | ENG |
Antonio Valencia | 83 | Manchester United | ECU |
Nathaniel Clyne | 82 | Liverpool | ENG |

Daryl Janmaat | 77 | Watford | NED |
Manquillo | 76 | Newcastle United | ESP |
There are very important attributes for any right back: defending and pace.
Since they’re defenders they should have good defending capacities. This reduces a team’s risk of conceding.
Zabaleta is the player that best fits this aspect.

A flanked game tends to be faster than a game based in the middle of the field. The players that fill these spaces are obligated to be fast, both penetrating defensive and attacking moves of the team. Pace is one of the most important requirements for a good full back. Even in FIFA 18.
Bellerín is the fastest Premier League player in FIFA 18 Ultimate Team. The Spanish international player is far superior in this aspect when compared to every EPL full back. Besides Bellerín, only Kyle Walker may be considered reasonably fast.
Héctor Bellerín | Arsenal | ESP | 95 |
Kyle Walker | Manchester City | ENG | 90 |
Antonio Valencia | Manchester United | ECU | 87 |
Serge Aurier | Tottenham Hotspur | IVC | 84 |

Kyle Walker and António Valencia are our top choices. They have a fantastic pace and their high attacking work rate make them good players for those that use full backs as second wingers.
Bellerín is faster than them but not as good in everything else. That’s why Aurier is our third choice. He is a more balanced right back that also helps the defence.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Left Backs
LB | LWB
Left backs have exactly the same role of their team mates on the other flank. In other words, they try to make a winger’s job hard and participate in the team’s offensive manoeuvres.
On the Premier League, there is a left back that stand out more than the other ones: Danny Rose.
Danny Rose | 82 | Tottenham Hotspur | ENG |
Leighton Baines | 82 | Everton | ENG |

Besides being the high rated LB, Rose is also the one who defends better in this league.

The promising, Anfield tied Alberto Moreno is the fastest left back in the English league. He makes his speed his biggest threat, and only Patrick van Aanholt and Masuaku can be compared with him in this stat.
Alberto Moreno | Liverpool | ESP | 88 |
Arthur Masuaku | West Ham United | DRC | 86 |
Patrick van Aanholt | Crystal Palace | NED | 86 |
Luke Shaw | Manchester United | ENG | 82 |

Marcos Alonso | Chelsea | ESP | 77 |
This is a really easy choice: Danny Rose is, by far, the best left back of this league. Marcos Alonso is a decent alternative, essentially because he is a very balanced player.
Of all the remaining players, Masuaku is our cheap choice. He lacks a little in quality compared to those mentioned above but he’s fast enough to cause some offensive damage. Not all the high rated players are good choices. Baines, for example, is too slow to play in this position. In other hand, Kolašinac , for example, is an amazing option but only for who doesn’t need to attack.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Defensive Midfielder
CDM
Many of the FIFA 18 Ultimate Team formations require some midfielders that have a natural aptitude to defend. Central defensive midfielders distinguish themselves for being especially aimed to help the more retreated line of their teams. According to their attributes and their work rates, they can also be useful for starting attacks. They are players that occupy a very strategic position in the field.
Kanté is by far the most popular defensive midfielder.
N’Golo Kanté | 87 | Chelsea | FRA |

Nemanja Matić | 83 | Manchester United | SRB |

Michael Carrick | 80 | Manchester United | ENG |
Oriol Romeu | 79 | Southampton | ESP |
There are a variety of attributes in a central defensive midfielder that you have to give attention: defending, so that the first defender of team works; strength, so that you win all brawls in a prone area of the field; heading, to win possession in aerial moves like goal kicks; pace, so that you cover the most terrain on the field as possible; stamina, so they can equally participate in offensive and defensive moves (especially useful for players with high/high work rates); passing and possession so that he can properly start attacks. In our opinion the two first are the most important.
Normally using a central defensive midfielder is associated with having a deficit of elements in your defence. So, it makes sense that when you search for a player to occupy this position you’d want players that can defend.
Gueye and Iborra are the ones who defend better.
Idrissa Gueye | Everton | SEN | 83 |
Iborra | Leicester City | ESP | 83 |
Victor Wanyama | Tottenham Hotspur | KEN | 82 |

The area of the field occupied by the central defensive midfielders is the one where most ball disputes happen. Strong players will have a higher probability of winning the ball.
There’s a lot of muscle between the Premier League. Wanyama, Matic, Fellaini e Kouyaté are good examples of that. On the other hand, there’s Michael Carrick. Even though he’s a very good passer, he rarely wins a physical brawl due to being the second weakest central defensive midfielder in the EPL.

In our opinion, Kanté is the right choice for this position. He is the CDM who gives more security to the back line but he is also a good offensive player. However, you will need a lot of coins to buy him.
There are also good options that are available at a cheap price who are still good quality-wise, like Matić, Bakayoko or even Wanyama, our economic choice.

A lot of games are decided in the midfield and not close to the goals. The players that play in these zones are the ones that should create the game and define its rhythm.

Centre midfielders are responsible for discovering lines that break the opponents defence. Their passing quality has to be really good so they can assist forwards.
Even though Cazorla, Pogba and James Ward-Prowse have a great passing stat, Fábregas is the one who does it better in the whole Premier League.

Pogba is the player that everyone wants on their teams. He stands out to be so good on the attack as he is on the defence.
Pogba is not the only good player for this position. There are many others. However, most of them are only good on the defence or on attack. Rarely both. For example: Gündoğan is the best replacement for Pogba, but only if your focus is the attack. Otherwise, you should use Moussa Dembélé. The same applies to Fàbregas and Herrera. Touré, our sixth choice, is one of the few who defends and attacks well. p>
Our budget choice falls to Cazorla, great example of good value for money for those who don’t need a player with defensive skills.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Central Attacking Midfielders
CAM
An attacking centre midfielder is responsible for creating chances to score. He should have a good dribbling, a decent passing, a high long shot stat and a great vision.
There are several good CAM’s in this league. It’s the case of the Ozil, David Silva, Eriksen and Kevin De Bruyne.

How we explained, the central attacking midfielders need to have good passing stats, so they can assist forwards.
Every year, De Bruyne and Eriksen have been improving their pass quality.

David Silva is again the best dribbler of the Premier League centre midfield.

Kevin de Bruyne is the most interesting player in the Premier League centre midfield, with the exceptions of Pogba and Kanté. He is level with the best players in various attributes including passing, shooting, vision, crossing and stamina making him a great option.
Christian Eriksen is a kind of De Bruyne’s light version. He’s weaker and has a worse shot but he still is a great player for any team. Alli is the right man if you don’t want to spend so much coins.
There is no much difference between David Silva and Ozil. The passing, dribbling, vision and ball control of the Arsenal’s player are simply amazing but is let down slightly by his 2 star weak foot.
Gylfi Sigurðsson is a cheaper player that can perform well as centre attacking midfielder.

Best FIFA 18 Premier League Right Wingers

The wingers are responsible for giving game width in the attack. They’re normally very explosive players.
Mkhitaryan, Bernardo Silva, Pedro e Willian are the most popular right wingers of this league.

There are three fundamental attributes for a winger: pace, dribbling and passing.
Pace is probably the biggest weapon of these players. They use it to evade opponents and getting to the other side, many times via sprints on the side lines.
The Premier League is extremely well served in this chapter: five gold players have pace over 90.

Just being fast doesn’t cut it to reach the opponents box, having good dribbling to surpass the opponents’ players that appear on the way.
There are a lot of players gifted in dribbling, being Bernardo Silva the best.

When reaching the opponents box the winger has to decide what to do. Normally, they choose to cross to the forwards. That is why it’s important for them to have good passing.
The weakest point of the Premier League Wingers is surprising – passing. Only Bernardo Silva and Willian offers good quality passing. Marković, Bolasie and Musonda, for example, could’ve been an option to consider filling this slot in virtue of their fantastic pace and dribbling, but they are affected negatively for missing frequently passes to their more forward team mates.

Mkhitaryan is our favourite to occupy this position in a team without budget restraints. He may not the best in any of the base attributes but he is always close to the top for dribbling and passing stats. There is no big difference to Willian, our second choice. Salah and Sterling are the fastest ones, but they don’t have the same quality. The Liverpool’s player is better but Sterling has a better price vs quality relation.
From the most popular there is also Bernardo SIlva. The Portuguese player is who has the best dribbling and passing stats, and for that reason an option you should not dismiss.

Hazard’s price prohibits him from being affordable for most, proving the worth of the player. He is without a doubt the best Premier League left winger. He’s the best dribbler, has the best passing stat, one of the fastest and only Sánchez is better at shooting than him. He possesses a series of other highly rated attributes such as balance, agility, acceleration and ball control.
For those who don’t want to pay so much for the Belgian, we suggest Sánchez. It’s impossible to talk about this player without comparing him to Hazard. He is not as good as the Chelsea’s winger overall but is far better value for money.
Mané, Sané and Coutinho are cheaper alternatives to Hazard and Sánchez. The first two are very fast, but Coutinho is much better with the ball in his feet.
Kevin Mirallas is the most complete affordable player and for that reason, our cheapest choice. He is faster than Coutinho and has better passing than Mané. A great player especially for low budget teams.

Jump, strength and stamina are the ingredients to the new physical attribute, very important when we are analysing the best forwards: jump to score with the head; strength to dispute the ball with the opponents; and stamina to sprint in direction of goal at any time of the game.

Depending on the style of play and formation, having good shooting and heading may not be enough for a striker. Especially in games that privilege counter-attack, pace is a very important attribute.

For the final position, we believe that Sergio Agüero and Lukaku are the best EPL strikers. However, the Manchester City player has the advantage due to his better pace and dribbling. Lacazette is our third option.
Zlatan is an unique player but his pace may not be enough for who has a fast playing style. That’s why he is our fourth choice.
Far from the quality of these strikers, Vardy is our economical choice.

FIFA 18 Premier League Squad Suggestions
Ideas to help you building your FIFA 18 Premier League Squad
A lot of people think that this is the most important part of the guide. It’s not. The thing that is really important to know is how to choose players based on their role and style of play that fits each player. The team suggestions that follow are simple graphic indicators of what we wrote previously. They should serve merely as orientation because it’s impossible to build a team that fits everyone. They depend on various factors we don’t know such as budget, formation, style of play and player preferences.
To try and explore the needs of the maximum player as possible we suggest three teams with different budgets and formations: 4-1-2-1-2 with unlimited budget, 4-3-3 with medium budget and 4-4-2 with a low budget.

? SUMMARY
The choice for this team’s players was based on the analysis made previously.
De Gea is the natural choice to the goal. However, who to put as his replacement presents one of the most difficult decisions. Lloris and Courtois are both amazing goalkeepers and you will be fine with either of them.
David Luiz is still good enough to play in the starting eleven but, if you need someone faster, pick Azpilicueta. He is a great addition to this position, especially considering the lack of quality fast players in this position. That’s not the case of Bailly, who should be in the starting eleven of every Premier League squad. Kyle Walker imposes himself with his tremendous pace to be our choice at the right back position, while at left back Rose is good enough to take the position.
The CDM spot is obviously for Kanté, the Premier League player of the year. Although Pogba is originally a CM in FUT 18, he also plays well as CAM. We used this formation not because it is the best for this league but because it is the standard formation we use for unlimited budget squads of our guides. If you don’t want to relegate De Bruyne to the bench, you should pick another one. Think about it: the Belgium midfielder is incredibly good.
Probably the biggest surprise in this squad is Mkhitaryan. The right midfielder is not an amazing player, like Hazard on the opposite side, but at least he is better than Willian.
If your budget allows you, Agüero and Lukaku are the obvious choices for the attack line. Excepting Pogba and Hazard, they are clearly the most expensive players in the league, which is a reflection of just how good they are.
Once all the players reach maximum individual chemistry via loyalty (achieved by each player after 10 matches for your club or by being pack pulled) you can go without a manager for your squad. They’ll be of no use while wasting contracts.

The choices for this more affordable team players was based on analysis made previously.
In goal, Lloris and Čech are too expensive to this squad. Schemeichel and Ederson are good enough to keep your goal safe.
Keane and Smalling are both fast and solid defensively. Rose is the only player who keeps his spot in this team. Aurier’s assertiveness completes our defending foursome.
Matic wasn’t in the unlimited budget squad because of Pogba and Kanté, but in this squad he has to be there. He has the muscle that every midfield needs. Wijnaldum and Lallana complete the midfield.
Sterling and Son are two very popular players with guaranteed place in this team. Salah and Martial are great but also too expensive to this squad.
Over the attack line, Roberto Firmino is an excellent but also expensive choice. He is great because he is a very balanced striker but if your budget doesn’t allow you to use him, pick Antonio as replacement. Excepting shooting, he has very decent stats.
If you still have some room in your budget, Virgil van Dijk, Herrera, Salah and Vardy are players that would improve this squad a lot.

? SUMMARY
The choice for this budget team was based on analysis made previously.
Karius is our choice for the goal. However, if you have a few more coins, upgrading to Hart or Butland would be a good improvement. Mbemba, Mangala, Cédric and Shaw complete the defence.
In the midfield, Kouyaté and Ramsey complement each other well. The first one is strong, quick and aggressive, the second is a player that usually pushes forward to assist his colleagues. Zaha and Redmond fill the wings in order to assist Welbeck and King who have both been chosen for their combination of pace and finishing stats.
Follow our tips and you’ll become more successful on FIFA 18 Ultimate Team with your Premier League Team.
my main team,
E.Hazard H.kane M.Salah
Fernandinho K.de bruyne Ander Herrera
Rose D.Luiz Bailly Aurier
Cech
what to change in your opinin to make it better?
You have amazing players on the midfield and attack. However, you don’t have enough coins to improve your defence? You need someone like Van Dijk.
Is this a good team?

Hello Rodrigo,
my main team is
Schmeichel
Rose-Baily-Azpill-Aurier
Wanayama-Guye
Son(lw)-Sigurdsson-William(rw)
IF Cenk Tosun 84 rated
I have 100k…i am thinking about maybe replacing GK and certainly sigurdsson because of pace and strength, but his shooting, specially his FK, have been great. Any ideias?
If I was you, I would also try Matic.
Hi Rodrigo,
Firstly, great work with these blogs, following since F16.
Would appreciate if you can suggest the following:
1) Are custom tactics / player instructions so important ? I’ve seen or experienced my players freezing (immobile), opposition players running faster than Bolt (?), probably handicapping. Is this normal ?
2) Improvement if required for
GK: Loris Courtious
RB: Valencia Walker
CB: Baily, Azpalicueta, Luiz, Dijk
LB: Alonso, Rose
CM: Firminio (84), Ericksen, Cazarola (86), KDB
LM: Hazard, Alexiz
RM: Willian, Miki
CF: Kane, Ibra
ST: Lukaku, Laca
Thank you very much.
1) Yes, it is normal. There are many factors that can explain that. As you can see here, reactions may be one of the reasons. Custom tactics / player instructions are very important too.
2) If you play with Cazorla and Azpilicueta, maybe Jordi Alba can fit on your team. You have a good team but you can also try to play with Hazard and Alexis on the wings.
Hi Rodrigo, I’ve just bought Alba & Marcelo to replace Alonso & Rose as my LBs.
Do u think Pogba over 84 Firminio would be a good option ? Bobby has done decently well as my CM with his great passing and finishing. Also, what formation would you recommend with this team ?
Currently using 4-4-1-1. I’ve 84 Matic and 85 Fernandinho as CDMs in my club, but not in my squad as of now.
Hi. Pogba is a great player. The formation is something that depends on many factors but 4411 doesn’t look a bad choice.

Hi. You already have a good team. In fact, your team is so good that 40k is not enough to improve it. You can only do it with the biggest names, like Aguero. My suggestion is to save or try something new, like replacing Rose by Jordi Alba (linking with Azpilicueta and Silva).
Thank you. That was a great.
This is my formation
gk Begovic

I didn’t finish exacly to buy players but u think to use a formation with lm-rm or lw-rw?
who i can buy as st or change something in this formation?
i’m medium budget as u can see
Help me thanks!!!
Hi.
It works with both RM/RW but wingers would be better.
As ST I suggest you Kane. Good luck
Hi, thanks a lot for ur advice, so u think the players are ok but which formation u think would work better? thanks again
I mean if i use willian and martial as rw lw. Thanks
I can’t suggest you a formation because it depends on your play style and preferences. It’s a kind of personal.
Hi Rodrigo,
I made a EPL team so I can use my Pogba.
I’m using 4-3-3 formation
Courtois
Rose, Bailly, David Luiz, 84 Walker
Gundogan, 87 Kante, 89 Pogba IF
Mane, Lacazette, Willian
My subs aren’t optimal but was trying to save coins there. Should I buy 88 Kante when I have 87?

Thank you for your help
Hi. With 40k you probably can get better players. I suggest you Bailey, Azpilicueta and Mkhitaryan.

Hi.
I suggest Matic instead of Dembele and a good ST. Maybe you have coins enough to buy Kane.
Hi rodrigo this is my team 4-2-3-1 (3cam). Cech-walker-bailly-azpilicueta-Alonso(84)-Kante-Herrera-Firmino(87)-Rooney(90)-Mahrez(86)-Ibrahimovic. I dont know a lot the premier league beacuse i’m seria A fan, So i dont know as improve my team. Courtois or cech? de gea is to much expensive. jordy alba (8 chemistry) is good or i keep alonso? one good Cdc playmaker to replace herrera? And what u think of my 3 cam and st? how can i replace them?Ibrahimovic or kane? sorry for a lot of question i follow you from different years and i think your work is fantastic!
Hi Rodrigo. I would also love a up version. Fifa 19 sounds good for that guide. I’m currently running 433(4)
Cech
Valencia
Azpi
Dijk
Rose
Dembélé
Gündoğan
Willian
Mane
Eriksen
Firmino
Who shud I buy next?
I don’t know your budget but replacing Dembele by Matic UP could be a good decision. Kane 88 could also be a good addition.
I’m playing 3-4-1-2
Cech
Koscielny Keane Bailly
Sterling/Salah Toure Herrera ?/?
De Bruyne
Aguero Jesus
1. Can help me pick the best 2 LM between Sane/Martial/Mane
2. Saving money to buy new GK (Courtois or Lloris). And David Luiz to replace Keane.
2. Any areas I can improve?
1) Mane
2) Courtois and Luiz
3) The Azpilicueta UP is also a good card.
Hi again! Like others who commented I would have loved to see the Up version of premier league guide hopefully will come in FIFA 19….
My team improved a bit since I last commented and here it is (442)
De Gea
Walker 83 Luiz Bailly Young 84
Salah OTW Corzola Kante 87 Hazard 90
Lukaku 86 Aguero 89
I have around 220k to spend and is marked for pogba 88 in place for corzola. Here’s some questions:
1. Should I be spending these money for Pogba next? is it worth the extra 30-50k for 88 instead of 87?
2. Valencia 85 vs Walker 84, who would you prefer if money is no problem? How about Aurier 84 or even Puyol, zanetti or Dani Alves 85?
3. Is Alonso 84 a better option than Young 84?
4. Can you recommend any Premier League CB that would improve my defence?
Aguero upgrading from Vardy is exactly as good as you said and I feel my attack is good enough but I am having to draw others 4-4 online so I feel I need to improve my defence. Hopefully I can hear from you soon.
Keep up the good work!!
Regards,
Victor
Hi Victor.
First of all, let me thank you for your suggestion. We are strongly considering to publish the UP version of the PL guide for FIFA 19.
About your questions:
1) In our opinion, Pogba would be a great signing for your team. However, his 88 rated card doesn’t worth the extra 30-50k.
2) Valencia 85 is better but also much more expensive. Aurier 84 looks to be better than Dani Alves 85 and Puyol. However, Zanetti is the best one.
3) It depends on your playstyle. I would try both,
4) Now, Azpilicueta 86 is also someone you may consider but if you have a good budget you should buy an Icon.
Regards
Hi, Rodrigo. Keep on the good work. How can i improve my team with limited budget?
Current Formation: 4-2-3-1
GK – Ederson 83 ( saving for Courtois )
LB – Rose 82 ( saving for Alex Sandro or Alex Telles SIF)
CB – David Luiz 86
CB – Bailly 84
RB – Aurier 81 ( saving for Valencia or Walker )
CDM – Fernandinho 85
CDM – Bakayoko 82
CAM – Eriksen 87
CAM – Firmino 85
CAM – Arnautovic 85
ST – Lukaku 86
What position should i improve first?
Hi, I need hhelp with my attacking options. Currently In tuhning
RM- Mkhitaryan
LM- Sanchez
CAM- Eriksen
ST- Morata
ST- Kane
I’m thinking of replacing Morata. Initially I thought of Lukaku. But since Kane isn’t the fastest player around, I figured his striking partner should be someone who is much more pacy, like Lacazette. I’m quite undecided. Should I go for Lukaku or Lacazette?
Our preference goes for Lukaku. He is not as fast as Lacazette but he is stronger. It depends on your play style: if you usually counter, pick Lacazette. Otherwise, buy Lukaku.
Hi, Rodrigo. I have been pretty much kickin ass so far, but still 4th division and limited bdgt
I have been playing 4-2-2-2
Cech
Rose
Smalling
Bailly
Valencia
Yaya toure (for long shots)
Ander herrera (have fernandinho 82 and gueye)
Dele alli
Vardy cam (have mata, dembele, sigurdsson, rooney)
Kane and morata upfront (have jesus and that fast dude king)
Any ideias for impact imediate improvement? I have like 30k and cards enough to get like 15 more
Thanks
I believe Lacazette would be a good improvement.
Hi Rodrigo,
nice work! I’ve been a long time reader of your guides and I really enjoy the relevant information you put out there!
I wanted to ask you: do you have any specific suggestions for my team? Any player upgrades I should really look at? Because I’ve been a long time 4-1-2-1-2 (wide) player, and have been playing the narrow variation the last few months, not very succesfully as the CM’s were quite useless, in defense as well as attack. So I switched back to the wide variant, selling Pogba and 2IF Mooy for some new players this week. Haven’t tested the team out yet, but will surely do it this weekend during weekend league. This is my current team:
De Gea
Valencia – Bailly/86 Azpilicueta (Azpi new, not sure yet) – Ramos – Alba
88 Desailly
87 Willian (new) – 83 Martial (new)
SIF 87 Firmino (new)
Aguero – 90 Larsson
I always had my LM, RM and strikers on “get in behind”, but will try Martial with ‘cut inside’ and aguero as ‘come to the ball’, I think. With Martial and Willian helping out in defense a little bit (the standard defensive setting) Any specific player upgrades/tactical settings you think I should look at?
Your expertise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!
You have a really nice team. Probably you could find someone better than Martial, but I’m sure you will have success with this team.
Tx Rodrigo!
Between motm 87 Mané and 90 Sanchez, which one would you suggest for the lm position?
Also, azpilicueta or Bailly between Ramos and Valencia?
Thanks in advance!!
I would go to Sanchez 90 but mostly because I don’t trust on IF/special stats. There are no big differences between them. Mane is faster ut Sanchez is better in most of the attributes.
Bailly is our first choice.
Hey Rodrigo,
I’ve built an English Premier league team in 433-4.
I was wondering if you could tell me how to improve my team, I current have 90K to spend
OTW Ederson
Walker – Azpilicueta Bailly – Rose
Bakayoko Eriksen Dembele
Sterling Jesus Sané
Bench:
Valencia – David Luiz Van Dijk – IF Kolasinac
Herrera Alli Gündoğan
Salah Lacazette Son
Hi. You have two players, playing as CDM. In my opinion, Matic UP is better than both. You already have a good team, but selling some player you are not using, you could buy Mkhitaryan and Lukaku.
Hi,
I could sell Ederson to buy Lukaku, Mkhitaryan, Matic and Courtois, but who would you replace those players for?
Salah (unless you have his UP version), Dembele and Sterling.
I’ve got the UP Salah and Sterling, but I’ll buy Mkhitaryan and Matić.
What about Lukaku? Who should I replace?
He is better than Gabriel…
I like Gabriel, but I’ve just packed Messi and I’m selling him so I suppose I can have both
Hi Rodrigo,
I was just wondering if you will be making a Revised BPL Guide, now that the Winter Updates are here?
I think you also did this for FUT 15 back in the day…
Cheers,
Robbie
Hi my friend. It’s great to see that people follow us for so long.
Unfortunately, we have other projects and don’t have enough time to publish an updated guide to the Premier League. Yes, we did it on FUT 15 but we didn’t have as many visits as expected. We decided to use that time to write new guides about other hot topics.
Hi Rodrigo,
I’m very sorry to hear that…
These BPL Guides are extremely helpful, and there have been a lot of Winter Upgrades, Transfers and also position changes for some players.
Anyway, thanks for your response 😉
Cheers,
Robbie
Thank you. We will take that in consideration for FIFA 19.
Hello
I have this BPL/La Liga/Bundesliga team. I was wondering if you have any suggestions/imporvments for my team(What i might upgrade)
Formation: 4-3-2-1
GK:Fahrmann(Ter Stegan)
RB:Weiser(florenzi)
RCB:Bender(Manolas)
LCB:Umtiti
LB:Digne
RCM:Goretzka(Naingolan
CM:Lallana(Fernandinho)
LCM:Paulinho
RF:Salah
LF:Sane(mane)
ST:Gabriel Jesus(Rashford/sturridge)
Keep up with the great guides
Thanks
Hi.
You have a decent team. Radja would be a great improvement but you will need someone to link with him. Lukaku is out of you budget?!
Hi Rodrigo, one general question for you. Do you update the guides once winter upgrades and transfers take place? Because, here for instance, I bet Auba will be in the top strikers, just to say one example. Thanks!
Hi. No, unfortunately, we don’t do it. We did it once 3 or 4 years ago but we didn’t have the expected visits and we decided to spend our time in new original content.
Oh what a shame, I understand thought. However in case some day you reconsider it, take into account (I bet you already did) that FIFA community grew a lot since 2014. Thanks for your help!
Next year we will analyse again if we should do it or not.
Who is 6th n 7th striker?
Sorry but can’t remember.
No worries. Was just gonna get them for a second team. I’ll get firmino and vardy for now
hello rodrigo. sané or martial? i play better with sand because he is left footed…what do you think?
Hi. I think Martial is better.
I have a 41212(2) team: Courtois, Walker, Bailly, Mustafi SIF, Rose, Kante, Dembele, Mooy Sif, Eriksen, Lukaku and Gabriel Jesus. What do you suggest to improve It? Thanks
Hi. Maybe someone to replace Dembele and Mooy.
Hi Rodrigo.
My team is:
GK: 89 Courtois
RB: 83 Valencia
CB: 87 Mustafi
CB: 86 Luiz
LB: 84 Young
CM: 86 Fabregas
CM: 87 Eriksen
CAM: 89 De Bruyne
LW: 90 Hazard
RW: 86 Willian
ST: Aguero
SUBS:
LW: 86 Coutinho
RW: 85 Mkhitaryan
CAM: 84 Alli
CB: 85 Azpilicueta
RB: 82 Rose
CM: 85 Gundogan
ST: 85 Lacazette
Im somewhat at the pointy stage of my team now, and for that reason I want to know a couple of things:
1. If the SIF 87 Mustafi overrated compared to Bailly and Azpilicueta or, since I have the money, should he stay.
2. Should I replace Fabregas/Gundogan as my midfielder choices to make them Pogba/Kante, and keep Eriksen as a sub.
3. Is De Gea worth the money over Courtois? Ive heard his special ability with foot saves are incredible.
4. Any other tips you can give me would be much appreciated!
Hi.
1) There is no much difference between them. Bailly is much faster and that is really important. Mustafi is better in the rest.
2) Pogba, Kante and Eriksen looks amazing.
3) De Gea is the best PL GK. I think it’s better to use De Gea and Bailly instead of Courtois and Mustafi 87.
4) Still saving for De Bruyne.
Thanks. Appreciate that. I will start saving for De Bruyne
4231 (2)
Courtois
Walker
Rose
Azpi
Alder
Matic
Gundogan
Willian
Mane
Ozil
Lukaku
What shud be my next signings
Nice team. If possible, try to replace Ozil by someone better like De Bruyne.
Thanks for your advice Rodrigo. As De Bruyne is out of reach atm. Would eriksen he better?
Yes, much better.
Thanks. Got him. Save for bruyne next or upgrade elsewhere?
Maybe Bailly and Eriksen first and then save for KDB
Hi Rodrigo, this is my squad with a 3-5-2 (3-2-3-1) formation
GK: Cech
CB: Bailly
CB: Cahill
CB: Vertonghen
CM: Fabregas
CM: Gundogan
RM: Mkhitaryan
CAM: Eriksen
LM: Coutinho
ST: Morata
ST: Vardy
I’ve been thinking of different ways to try an improve my team, mainly on Vardy and Cahill. I thought of getting and changing the position of Sanchez from a LW to a LF to replace Vardy. Do you think that would be a good choice or should I stick with one of the strikers you displayed (and maybe your suggestion). Also, since I’m playing a three man defense, do you think I should consider swapping out Cahill? Thanks man love your guide.
Hi.It may work. You should give a try to your plan about replacing Vardy by Sanchez.
Yes, you have other better options for the CB position.
Who would be your top 5 LM and RM? I didn’t see it in the guide?
https://bit.ly/2gUxfDN
Hi Rodrigo, I’ve been running this squad:
GK: Schmeichel
LB: Rose
RB: Walker
CB: Bailey
CB: Van Dijk
CDM: Matic
CAM: Lallana
RM: Mkhitaryan
LM: Son
ST: Vardy
ST: Jesus
I have around 130k to improve, what should I buy? I was thinking about Eriksen to replace Lallana and Coutinho to replace Son.
Also, what do you think about SIF Wilson? I’ve seen a lot of people talking about him but he’s expensive.
Hi. I agree that Eriksen should be your priority. More than Coutinho.
In my opinion, Wilson is too expensive. I think you should try first every good NIF card before buying an IF one.
Current first 11:
Ederson
Bellerin Bailly Kompany Rose
Mkhitaryan Herrera Sane
Coutinho (cam)
Jesus Martial
Any way I can improve my first 11?
Scratch that…….first 11 now reads:
Gk Ederson
Rb Walker
Cb Bailly
Cb Kompany
Lb Rose
Rm Mkhitaryan
Cdm Herrera
Lm Coutinho
Cam Alli
St Jesus
St Martial
Thinking of swapping Ederson for Cech as he’s the most affordable better option, any other possible realistic swaps for a squad with little coin.
Eriksen.
Sure, you have room for improvements. I think your priority should be the midfield. Follow the suggestions on this page.
Hi dude thanks for the guide it has helped massively but i would love to hear your opinion on my current squad and what you would reccomend to take it to the next level. I currently have just over 70k coins.
4-2-3-1
GK Schmeichel/Butland
RB Aurier/or Clyne
CB Bailly/Smalling/ or Keane…cant decide what CB to buy.
LB Rose/Moreno
CDM Bakayoko/Fernandinho/ or Matic
CAM Lallana/ or Firmino
RM Willian or Salah or Sterling
LM Sane
ST Jesus or Vardy or Rashford.
I cant work out where to prioritise next. Do i biy Lloris, or 2 CBs. Or do i splash out on eriksen. Decisiona decisions. What do you reckon ?
Hi. In my opinion, Eriksen should be your top priority. He will make the difference in your team.
Hi Rodrigo,
Thanks for the guide, it helped me a lot
I’m playing with a PL Team using 4-1-2-1-2 formation
GK: Ederson (Begovic)
LB: Rose (Shaw)
CB: Van Djik (Otamendi)
CB: Koscielny (Mustafi)
RB: Walker (Aurier)
CDM: Matic (Gueye, Herrera)
LM: Coutinho (Sanè)
RM: Bernardo Silva (Sterling)
CAM: Fabregas (Sigurdsson)
ST: Vardy (Morata)
ST: Kane (Giroud)
I have other weaker teams that i use sometimes and only 23K to improve this team, I’m wondering if I should sell the other players to get more money o to preserve them for the SBC. Do you have any suggestion?
Thanks a lot
Hi. You have a nice team. I believe you should buy a top CB like Bailey to replace Koscielny. That should be your top priority.
Hi Rodrigo,
I’ve been following your Guides since FIFA 15, great work as always!
I’m playing the following Team in the 5-2-2-1 formation:
GK: De Gea
RWB: Walker
RCB: Bailly
CCB: David Luiz
LWB: Marcos Alonso (In Form)
RCM: Yaya Toure
LCM: Paul Pogba
RW: Willian (In Form)
ST: Sergio Aguero
LW: Alexis Sanchez
Overall a pretty awesome Team, but I’m having trouble finding a decent partner for Pogba on the midfield. I’m looking for the same kind of player that Pogba is, and Yaya Toure does a decent job, but I was wondering if there maybe is another, better upgrade for this position?
Other upgrades are also welcome of course 😉
I currently have about 340k to spend.
Cheers,
Robbie
LCB is Azpilicueta btw…
It’s always good to know that people have been following us for so long.Thank you for that.
You have a great team. Yaya was always one of my favourites along this years, but he is not the same one anymore. I would like to suggest you Kanté. I know he isn’t the same kind of player that Pogba is, but I’m confident that it will work. His pacing and shooting stats are lower than the ones of Yaya but you can fix it applying him the right chemistry style. Besides that, in a formation like this one, the CMs have to fill a big portion of the field and he is the right guy for that. He’s fast, strong and has a wonderful stamina.
Cheers
Hi Rodrigo,
I have this team and using 41212 formation
Schmichael
Rose – Koscielny – Mustafi – Walker
Matic
Martial – Ozil – Willian
Lacazette Ibrahimovic
Subs: Alonso, Otamendi, Bellerin, Morata, Vardy, Bakayoko, Son, Salah, Rooney
How can I improve my team?
I don’t know how big is your budget but I think you need at least one top-quality CB like Bailly. That should be your priority.
Hi Rodrigo, I have updated my team now.
can you please tell me which should I buy ow to improve them?
41212 formation
Ederson (up)
Alonso – David Luiz – Azpilicueta – Walker
Kante
Alexis – De Bruyne – Mkhitaryan
Lacazette Ibrahimovic
Subs: Rose, Koscielny, Bellerin, Van Dijk, Vardy, Matic, Mane, Salah, Gundogan, Willian
Which player should I buy?
Aguero? Pogba? Hazard? Aubameyang?
Can I sell other players? who?
By the way I also have Lukaku now… But I felt that I’m happy with Ibrahimovic..
If you are happy with Ibra (I believe Aguero is better), then you should go to Hazard.
Hi Rodrigo,
This is my current squad playing 3 5 2
Begovic
Bailly Vertonghen Sanchez
Bakayoko Dembele
Aurier Eriksen Sterling
Kane Son
Team has been playing okay until I got to Division 4 where Kane’s pace has been horribly exposed. I also dont think Begovic is good enough anymore at this level. LWB/LM position need strengthening too.
I am planning to get IF Arnautovic and IF Callum Wilson to replace Kane and Son and get Mane for Sterling. Do you think they’re good moves? Or should I get Lukaku instead? As for the goalie, do you think I should spend the extra coins on Lloris or Courtois( DDG is out of budget) or do you think goalkeepers dont make big difference?
Hi. GK can make the difference, but in this case, I think your priority should be Lukaku and Mane. Also, check if Matic is not better than some of your players.
Hi, I really like what you are doing with who are your favorite players each FIFA but i will still ask for your help to improve my squad
My team 433-4 so far is:
GK Lloris
RB Walker – Valencia
CB Alderweireld – Davinson Sanchez
CB Vertonghen – van Dijk
LB Rose – Alonso
CM Gundogan – Alli
CM Herrera – Yaya Toure
CAM de Bruyne – Eriksen
RW Willian – Salah – Sterling
ST Ibrahimovic – Jesus
LW Martial – Sane
I really hope you could help me out who i should buy, keep & sell
Thanks
Hi. Thank you for your words.
The first thing to do is to check the price of Dijk and sell him. His price is going up now that his old card is not in packs anymore. With those coins, buy Bailly.
I also believe you have two good CAMs. Do you play with both at the same time? If you don’t, then sell Eriksen and use those coins to save for good CM, like Kante.
Hi rodrigo,this is my team
4-3-3
Courtuois
Valencia bailly david luiz alex sandro
Pogba kante fernandinho(if)
Son (sif) aguero mkhitaryan
I have 700k and i don’t know how to improve, could you give me some advices?
Thanks a lot
P.S. I thought to buy ferdinand 88 instead of luiz, but i’m not sure that his price is worthy
Hi. Great team! It’s not easy to improve. 700k for a single player looks too much. What about upgrading your players to a few IF cards?
For example???
Thanks again for your kindness
Salah IF, for example, looks much better than Mkhitaryan

CAM Eriksen
St Lukaku
Sy Kane
I dont really know who should I improve now. Was thinking abour Cortouis instead of Cech or Alexis instead of Mane. But since my STs are quite slow maybe Lacazette or Gabriel J instead of Kane would be better. What do you think about it ?
Hi. No one better than you can identify the weaknesses of your team. You have a good team. If I was you my priority would be 1) Lacazette, 2) Alexis, 3) Courtois
Hi Mr. Rodrigo. It’s 4-3-3 My squad is:
-Cech
-Valencia Alderweireld Koscielny Rose
-Fabregas Gundogan DavidSilva(CAM)
-Willian Morata Coutinho
Thanks for the guide
Thx
Nice squad. Keep with Coutinho no matter what happens. His price will go up soon. Besides that, your next move should be to buy a better CB.
Hey Rodrigo this is my team just wanted your input about how i can improve. I play with a 4-3-3 (4) (might be looking to change the formation) I prefer Alexis over Eden because for me he appears to be more agile. Also thinking about getting De Gea (maybe not?) Lloris does very well and hardly makes mistakes, is De Gea really that much better and worth spending the coins to upgrade? Also I was thinking about Raheem Sterling’s 86 inform card to replace ol Mickey in my RW. Thanks for the help!
GK: Hugo Lloris (88)
LB: Leighton Baines inform (84)
CB: Shkodran Mustafi inform (87)
CB: Virgil Van Dijk (83)
RB: Kyle Walker inform (84)
CM: Paul Pogba (87)
CM: Mesut Ozil (87)
CAM: Kevin De Bruyne (89)
LW: Alexis Sanchez (89)
ST: Romelu Lukaku (86)
RW: Henrikh Mkhitaryan (85)
Hi. You have a strong team. For most of the players, De Gea is a more useful player but if you are happy with Lloris, you don’t have to ‘upgrade’ him. Sterling 86 is an option but, in most of the cases, special cards are not good value for money. You can also try to play with Sanchez on the right and Hazard on the left. Sometimes it’s better to use a strong player with medium chemistry than a decent player with full chemistry.
That is a great idea about using hazard and Sanchez, thank you.
I hope it works…
Hey Rodrigo, Thanks for putting so much time into the guide!
I don’t really know what formation to use. I’m currently playing 4-3-1-2 because I like playing through balls through to my strikers.
This is my team –
Schmeichel
Clyne-Keane-Rojo-Masuaku
Barkley-Bakayoko-Son
Antonio-Martial
I’m planning on buying Aurier, Bailly (although I don’t know which CB to replace),Matić for Bakayoko, JESUS for António and dembele for Barkley.
Do you have any alternative formations that would suit my playing style? Also, do you think I should upgrade to different players?
I have 50k.
Thanks
Tom.
Thank you.
Rojo is slightly better than Keane. Keep with him. All your plans look OK but Rose probably has room in your squad. 433 looks a more suitable formation but you will need to make a few adjustments on the wings.
Hi Rodrigo.
Great guide you have here!
I started playing fifa UT a couple weeks ago now but I have started struggling after moving up to division 4 now.
I play 2 formations.
4-3-3 . Good at defending but struggle creating chances.
Hart
Zappacosta,Christensen,rudiger, Alonso
fernandinho,bakayoko,matic
Willian,morata,coutinho
Subs – sterling,Walcott,vardy,stones,firmino,
bernardo silva,Shaw,
Then 4-2-3-1.. a new formation I have started to use but concede quite a few goals.
Hart
Zappacosta,Christensen,rudiger, Alonso
bakayoko,matic
Willian, coutinho, sterling
Morata
I Only have 25k coins.
Is there anything you can suggest I do or try. I like playing quick football with short passes.
Thanks
Hi. Thank you.
It is strange to see you conceding more goals when playing on 4231 because it is more defensive than 433. I think the first thing you need to do is to find someone to replace Christiansen. Even Rudiger can be replaced by someone better. Don’t focus so much on your attack.
Hi Rodrigo, thanks for helping.
This my team: 4-3-3
Schmeichel
Aurier, Keane, Smalling, Rose.
Matic, Herrera, Dembelé.
Sané, Vardic, Sterling.
What do you thing about it?
Next upgrades?
Thanks.
You have a decent team. Baily could be a nice addition.
Hi Rodrigo,
Good Guide you have here.
Currently, my formation is 4-3-2-1 I have:
Courtois
Rose – David Luiz – Eric Bailly – Kyle Walker
Dembele – Matic – Gundogan
Martial – Mkhitaryn
Lacazette
Subs/Reserves:
Willian, Sane, Sterling, Morata, Gray, Bakayoko, Schneiderlin, Aurier, Rojo, Azpilicueta, Rooney, Alonso
I also have about 60k coins. I’d like to improve my team a bit, who would you recommend I buy/sell? I was thinking of selling Rojo and Aurier and getting Toby Alderweireld and Antonio Valencia, getting an IF LB/RB too.
Thank you.
You have a great team. I think Mané is better than Martial but probably you will have your reasons to play with the United’s player.
You are thinking well about your buys and sells but it won’t have a big impact on your starting 11.
Regards
Hey Rodrigo excellent guide as always.
Just wanted your opinion on what’s best. One team or two teams?
It depends on many factors. In my personal opinion, one team is better. It’s more expensive because you probably will need to use fitness cards but at least you will always be playing with the best players.
Thanks. That’s great
What do you think to hero giroud?
It looks a good card but… (your next question)
Not too sure if ifs are to be trusted I know you have said something similar. Can you elaborate plz
Our experience says that IG stats of IF cards do not always match with the cards’ stats. It means that they can play worse than expected. Last year, for example, it was discovered the chemgate.
Hello, great guide!!!
I am currently using 4-4-2 formation and sometimes 4-2-3-1
Schmeichel
Rose-Christensen-Keane-Aurier
Sane-Fabregas-Gundogan-Mkhitaryan
Morata-Vardy
Subs/reserves:Bravo, Baba Zouma, Bellerin, Bakayoko, Henderson, Cazorla, Sigurdson, Lanzini, Mirallas, Sterling, Firmino
What would be the next upgrades? Now, I have 30000 coins to improve my team.
Thank you.
Bailly would be great. He should be your next buy.
Hi Rodrigo,
My formation is 4-1-2–2
Schmeichel
Aurier alderwierld vertonghen rose
Matic
Coutinho (LM)
Willian (RM)
Gundogan (CAM)
Morata rashford (ST)
How may I improve my squad. I don’t have much coins. Am thinking of buying Kane for morata, eriksen for gundogan & vardy for rashford ( to have more pace) . Please suggest , am confused
You have a good team and will get even better with the three buys you are thinking to do.
I just started to play fut 18 and I build a team. I wanted to know from you if I could change something or do something better
so my formation is 4-1-2-1-2
Begovic – bellerin – koscielny – smiling – rose
bakayoko zdm
rw salah/ mkhitari
lw sane
zom lanzini
st: morata – ras: sterling
thank you!
Hi.
Your team is great for who is starting. In my opinion, you should give a chance to Matic and buy a new CAM as soon as possible.
thank you really much i appreciate that a lot
Great Guide. I’m always impressed with your analysis for our benefit. Thank you for the time you put into it.
My budget is in the medium range and I have largely followed your guide.
4-3-3 Standard Formation
Rose – Keane – Smalling – Aurier
Dembele – Matic – Alli
Son – Kane – Willian
Bench/Reserves: Vardy – Miralles – Sterling – Bakayoko – Toure – Sanchez – Bellerin – Defoe – Lanzini – Marcos Alonso & Cedric
My question is about the CM position. Where I generally enjoy the standard 4-3-3 formation, when considering the CM position, would you suggest I look only at true CMs only or a mix of CAM, CM, and CDMs as I have here? I have converted the CDMs and CAMs positions to CMs to fit the formation.
Any other advice on my roster is appreciated as well.
Forgot to mention Schmeichel is my keeper.
Thank you for your words.
I believe you can use a mix of CDM-CM-CAMs players but you need to be sure that players you choose have the needed stats. Pay attention that if you have a strong chemistry you may not need to use position cards because they will be already playing on their maximum chemistry.
In your case, Matic looks OK. If you replace him, it has to be by someone with good defensive skills and high defensive work rate.
Thank you, Matt
I’m definitely going to test the formation you said, I’m just worried about replacing and pressing in the middle of the field.
As for KDB I am seriously tempted to sell it and buy Lacazzete. But before I try to play again with him, it should not be for nothing that he is the best CAM in the Premier League.
Hi guys,
I won Erikksen in a pack, and I have Alli and De Bruyne, is there any proper formation to play with at least 2 CAM’s?
In Your Opinion, Should I Sell Anyone? Who should? Easy game with Alli, but I have not seen so much improvement with De Bruyne.
Thank you very much!!
Hi,
4-2-3-1 is a really overpowered formation this year with 3 CAMs, I would play KDB on the right and Alli in the middle.
Of course it all depends on who you enjoy playing with, if KDB doesn’t fit your playstyle that much, it would be a reasonable decision to sell him as he is really expensive and you can make serious improvements to your team.
I’m no expert on the game but hope it helps.
In our opinion, De Bruyne is much better than Alli.
There are decent formations with 2 or more CAMS, like 4231, but it leaves exposed on your defence. It depends on many factors, but I believe De Bruyne + Eriksen and a good CDM is the best option.
Hi!
I only bought Fifa now, hence the late comment, but I hope you’ll still check.
My BPL Squad currently looks like this (4-3-1-2)
Schmeichel
Aurier-Smalling-Keane-Marcos Alonso
Gundogan-Lallana-Herrera
Firmino
Ibrahimovic-Morata
I dont really enjoy playing with wingers, so I’d prefer to stay in a narrow formation. I have around 140k coins, what do you think would be the best upgrade?
Thanks in advance!
That’s a good budget. If I was you, I would sell Ibra or Morata and buy Bailly, Azpilicueta, Rose, Matic and Lacazette
Great guide Rodrigo
I have just started playing and my team is:
Schmeichel
Aurier – Keane – Rudiger – Rose
Allana – Bakayoko – Can
Sterling – Rashford – Martial
Sub: Bravo, Shaw, Moreno, Sanchez, Smalling, Sane, Morata, Kimmich (Bundes) and Tolisso (Bundes)
1) Should I change my starting eleven?
2) What should i get first to improve my team?
Hi.
1) Your starting 11 is not bad, especially if you have just started. If I was you, I would replace Bakaoko by Matic and use those extra coins to improve other positions.
2) Can is probably your weakest player.
Thanks, I got a special player that i sold and got Vardy, Matic, Mkhytaryan and Wijnaldum, so I improved many positions.
Should I buy Herrera or improve defense?
Good one! You made the right improvements. Now, I think you should focus on the defense.
Hi Rodrigo,
i can find ideal squad between unlimited and medium budget.
What you think about this squad?
Cech
Aurier – Van Dijk – Alderweider – Rose
Matic
Mané – Alli (CAM) – Mkhitaryan
Kane – Batshuayi (IF)
Biggest question is Batshuayi (IF), but cant find better ST after Firmino/Morata for good prices.
Hi.
It’s a nice squad. Basically, I agree with all your choices except Batshuayi (IF). I don’t trust on IF cards. What about Gabriel Jesus? It depends on your play style but if you like dribbling and running, he may be who you needs.
It fit perfect to my style. I do nothing with slow attackers. Thx, i will try this squad.
Hi Rodrigo,
so, i have the accepted squad by you except Aurier (i bought Walker). What you recommend in next step for improve my squad?
I think you should improve your CBs. Bailey or Azpilicueta would be perfect.
Hi Rodrigo ,
Thanks for this article!
I am currently ude 41212
Lukaku lacazette
Lm Coutinho cam eriksen rm willian
CDM bakayoko
Rose van dijk bailly aurier
Courtois
What tactics should I use , What things should i change ?
Thanks!
Hi. You have a great team. There is no much more to improve unless you have an unlimited budget, which should not be the case. Walker would be a nice addition but, if you think you can save coins, De Bruyne should be your next target.
Regards
Hi Rodrigo,
Thank you for an awesome guide.
I’m currently playing 4-1-2-1-4 with
Schmeichel
Aurier – Bailly – van Dijk – Rose
Matic
Sterling – Son
Alli
Kane – Morata
I thought about changing one of the strikers for a faster one, but I’m not sure who to change and who to buy.
I also thought about changing Aurier for Walker or Valencia, Son for Mané or Martial and maybe Schmeichel for Cech.
Would you recommend any of those changes, and do you have any other recommendations on how I can improve my team?
My budget is currently at 50k.
Thank you! 🙂
Hi. Nice to meet you.
I recommend all the changes you talked about. If possible pick Mané instead of Son. About the strikers, I know Kane is slower than Morata but I still think you should keep with him. My suggestion is to get Gabriel Jesus
Regards
Hi Rodrigo,
I am currently using the formation 433(4) with the team:
Schmeichel
Masuaku, VVD, Bailly, Aurier
Can, Firmino (CAM), Matic
Mane, Jesus, Willian
I am looking to improve my team for the weekend league but i am not too sure which area is weak. I just had a bad spell in division 3 as I have been conceding a lot of counter attacking goals recently.
I think my midfield may be the problem but i am not too sure why. However, i feel like VVD gets out of position way too often due to his high attacking work rate even though he is on stay back while attacking. While i feel my midfield may not be as strong as i would like it to be, I still think it still can do the job and i just have to improve my game.
Do you have any advice on which area i should improve and which player i should get? I feel like getting a new CB would help quite a bit. I have a budget of about 40k so it isnt a lot.
Thank you!
Hi. Here are our suggestions:
1) 433 (4) is a very attacking formation. Maybe you should use the original 433 and place Matic in the middle.
2) Yes, you need a CB with the right work rates. If you don’t want to spend many coins, Alderweirld may be a good choice.
Cheers
Hi Rodrigo,
I have these players in my team:
Schmeichel
Aurier, Van Djik, Keane, Rose
Lallana, Matic, Gundogan
Son, Firmino, Mkhitaryan
I am saving money and have about 250k, but I want to buy Pogba. Should I save more and buy him, or it isnt worth it? What player has the most impact in your unlimited budget team?
Don’t do it. It’s better to have a balanced good team than an average team with one single top-player. Use those coins to improve your team
Hi Rodrigo
Great article as always! I am a little short on budget so I can either
1. Get eriksen or
2. Get mane + bailly
Rest of my team, a 3 5 2
Schmeichel
Sanchez vertonghen smalling
Aurier Matic wanyama Lemar/alonso
Wijnaldum
Kane son
Really loved wijnaldum ‘s speed and muscles as a cam but his finishing and passing let me down at times. He is still scoring plenty of goals for me though. Should I upgrade him to eriksen or leave him and get Mane and Baily in place of Alonso/lemar and vertonghen?
Option 2 is much better-.
Hi Rodrigo,
I have these players in my team:
Schmeichel
Aurier, Van Djik, Toby, Rose
Silva, Matic, Alli/ Herrera
Son/Coutinho, Vardy, Willian
Currently, Herrera, Son and Vardy has been playing really well although i was thinking of strengthening either one of these positions CM/ LF or RF and ST. I have 25k and these options in mind: Fabregas for Herrera, Martial for Son or Bringing Kane into the team to compete with Vardy.
What are your suggestions?
Once again thanks for your great guides.
Hi.
If I was you, my priority would be to buy Bailly.
Hi Rodrigo,
First of all, thank you so much for your guides, always a head start when the new season starts! Been following you for at least 4 years, and it is great to see a fellow Portuguese leading the FUT comunity for so long!
I play only once every week but I am an experienced player (play fut since the first year) and I like to play fast . Sometimes on the counterattack, cutting from the line with the wingers or side midfielders and shooting from a distance.
I use the 41212 formation and my actual 11 is:
schmeichel
rose / smalling / van djik / aurier
matic
mkhitaryan / (had Son but just sold him)
Eriksen
vardy / firmino
Today completing the marquee matchup real/atletico just received zlatan. I am affraid he may be too slow for me style of play, but I am not convinced with firmino, although his passing quality and pace and dribbling are very good and balanced…
I have an extra 72K…
I was thinking of keeping zlatan for a while and try it out, sell firmino, and with the +- 78/80k buy mane or martial and keep some money for SBC… Next upgrade would be Bailley for Smalling… After, I have been dreamin about lacazette think he fits like a glove in my game…
What do you think? Which one would you recommend? On the FUT17 loved Martial… Any other advices for further upgrades or any tips?
I like your team. In my opinion, you definitely should try Lacazette. He is who you need: fast, great dribbler and has a decent finishing. He is perfect for your playstyle which means that you should sell Ibra and give him a try. Bailly is obviously a good improvement but can’t see Mane os Martial (he is not as good as last year) as must-buys.
Abraço
Hi Rodrigo, brilliant article as ever, I have a 442 currently as follow:
Butland
Walker Bailly D.Luiz Rose
Mkhitaryan Cazorla Dembele Martial
Lukaku Vardy
I am trying to save for De Gea, Hazard, Pogba and Aguero (Big sum!!) but there’s a few question I would like to ask:
1. How is ur feeing about IF Young compare to rose?
2. would you recommend IF sterling or salad as oppose to Mkhitaryan on my team if money is no issue? (like you said I feel the RM position can be better?)
3. is Kante a better option as CM than Dembele on 442?
4. I actually quite like Lacarzette or Vardy hen I have them on my team…how much better is augero compare to Lacarzette?
Keep up the good work!
Hi.
1) Save your coins to other players and keep with Rose.
2) If money isn’t a problem, try Salah 86.
3) Yes, we believe he is.
4) Difficult question. For most of the players, he will score more 10-20% goals.
Nice guide. My team (41212(2)
Schmeichel, Aurier, Smalling, Keane, Rose, Matic, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Sigurðsson, Firmino and Vardy. Please who do you suggest to help me improve this team. I have 103k coins
Bailly and Kane.
Hi, Great guide. My current starting 433 team is Butland, Aurier, Smalling, Keane, Rose, Gueye, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Son, Salah and King/Welbeck/António ( I rotate the 3). I have 50k coins what area of my team can I improve please. Thanks.
I suggest you, Matic, Willian and probably Firmino.
Hi Rodrigo,
Great guide! I’m playing now 4-2-3-1 and sometimes 4-1-2-1-2 (2). When i play FUT online, i need a solid defense because i’m new with FIFA this year.
My team:
Cech
Clyne – Azpilicueta – Alderweireld – Rose
Gueye – Wanyama
Bernardo Silva – David Silva – Gundogan
Costa
What position do you think is the next priority to improve ?
– Kante instead Wanyama?
– Or is it necessary to improve the CAM-positions with maybe Sanchez or Mkhitaryan?
– Or?
Or Fabregas instead Bernardo Silva?
Hi. Nice to meet you.
1) Kante is a great player but you need to climb one step at a time. I think you should try Matic and eventually Bakayoko before going to Kanté.
2) Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sánchez are great but they are wingers. We recommend you Eriksen and Alli. Later, when you got more coins, buy KDB.
3) Bailly would also be a nice addition.
Great guide, looking for advice –
My team is currently playing 3421, but I’m not sure whether to play his or 343, which is better? Here is my team:
Butland
Ogbonna, koscielny, mustafi
Mirallas, dembele, Ozil, mkhitaryan
Mane, Kane, Willian
I am going to replace butland, ogbonna, and mirallas soon. Any suggestions? Thanks, any replies are greatly appreciated.
Both formations are good for your lineup. If you feel that your striker is too lonely, play on 343. Otherwise, choose 3421
Hi
Don’t know if you got my first comment, it’s not uploaded yet.
Anyway, nice job with this guide !
Few advice on my team would be appreciated [4-1-2-1-2 (2) ] :
Ederson OTW
Walker – Bailly – Rudiger – Rose
Bakayoko
Gundogan – De Bruyne
Jesus
Lacazette – Rashford
Budget : 120K
– What position do you think is the next priority to improve ?
– What do you think of Azpilicueta instead of Rudiger ? (Workrate medium/medium for Azpi is good ?)
IMO Jesus IF would be a great improvement as CAM.
Pogba as CM (don’t have the coins yet).
Kante instead of Balayoko but I would miss Bakayoko’s height to win air duels. What do you think?
And De Gea instead of Ederson OTW that I will sell when he’ll get boosted ahah.
Thanks. And great job again.
Regards !
Hi. Thank you.
I don’t know why but your first comment went to the spam box.
1) CB. David Luiz or Azpilicueta would be great improvements.
2) Yes, it is a good buy. Medium/medium is good enough.
If you have coins to buy Kante, go ahead. He is much better than Bakayoko. De Gea would be also a good buy. Don’t have much more to say because you are planning your team very well. Oh, Aguero instead of Rashford too…
Hi
Many thanks for answering me.
I’ll go for Azpilicueta then.
And save coins for the next monsters ahah.
I will definately try Kanté but I’m very concerned about the height ! Who will win the battle of the air?
Aguero comes at the end of my list.
And yeah, this Jesus IF… Holy moly ! Can’t wait to try him !
Another question : do you have advices on 4-1-2-1-2 (2) formation? Tactics, players instructions, etc 🙂
Thanks !
Hi. We don’t have more suggestions besides the ones published here but we are working on guides about instructions, tactics, etc…
Rodrigo i’m using 4-3-1-2
Begovitch – Otamendi – Keane – Baines – Zappacosta – Klassen – Fabregas – Lallana – Dele Alli – Harry Kane – Vardy.
Reading all this coments, should i try 4-3-3? This formation 4-3-1-2 is actually working great for me, i have 120.000,00 coins and i’ thinking what would make a bigger difference on attack our midfield, lacazzete our Ozil (IF Halloween)?
Thanks in advance! You guys are great!
Hi. Don’t waste your coins on Scream cards. Use it on Lacazette or, even better, follow the midfielders suggestions we published on this page. If you feel fine with your formation, keep playing with it.
Thanks men!
I’m actually saving (150k) coins to Kevin DeBruyne,(240-320k) i think he wil be a hell of a player on my midifield.
What do you think is worth more? to play Squads Battle Offline or Single Player Seasons?
To earn more coins ?!
That was a good decision. He’s brilliant.
Squad Battles gives you better rewards.
4-2-3-1 cech-walker-cahill-Alderweireld-kolasinac-fabregas-toure-salah-ozil-coutinho-costa. In which player should I invest to improve this squad. Only 60K in hand
Subs: zapacosta-sterling-Ox-iborra-mustafi-lanzini-sturridge-wilshere
Hi.
Dijk, Matic and Rose to start.
Hi rodrigo, great guide
This is my team
Schmeichel
Rose bailly koscielny walker
Herrera matic (cdm) georginio
Mane vardy mkhitaryan
500k available
I thought to change my midfield with de bruyne and kante insted of georginio and herrera
What do you think?
Thanks for all And have a good day
Hi.
500k available? That’s so many coins! Kante and Bruyne would be amazing.
Hi Rodrigo,
As always, great job on the guide. I have the following team in a 4-4-1-1:
Courtois
Aurier Bailly Koscielny Rose
Willian Bakayoko Lallana POTM Mane
Prime Rui Costa
Firmino
Subs: Matic, Gueye, Toure, IF Sterling, Son, Jesus
I have about 300k++. I have tried David Luiz but sold him due to Kosc being untradeable and not noticing a difference. Similarly Lukaku, could not get him to work for me. Where else do you think I can improve?
Many thanks!
Thank you.
You have a great budget. It’s time to buy a real striker, like Lacazette.
Regards
Excellent guide Rodrigo as always. Can’t wait for the calcio a team

Hi, Thanks for this amazing guide. Just have a few questions, what are your thoughts on sane and is he better than son, Also is rashford a good choice. And Who is the #6 choice Centre back. Cheers.
Hi. Thank you.
1) Sane is better. His pace makes all the difference.
2) Rashford is not a great choice. He is fast but lacks in shooting and heading.
3) Probably Koscielny but can’t remember.
Hi rodrigo,
Thanks for you answers as always.
I’ve another question, this is my team atm
Schmeichel
Walker koscielny bailly rose
Gorginio matic herrera
Mkhitarian vardy mane
200 k available
I have some doubts
1) i’d like to improve the midfield but the high/high work rates of the cm is a good point to keep them, specially the speed of georginio and the defence skill and good passing of herrera
2) i think that is difficult to me improve the defence for the speed of koscielny and his work rates compared to david luiz (possibile subs)
3) how about the forward line sanchez’s quality can overcome the speed of mane? And vardy is perfect to me due to his speed and work rates, and the way he help he team in defence
Thanks again for all and have a good day 🙂
Hi.
1) You have a decent midfield but you also have 200k… I suppose that De Bruyne is too expensive, right? 🙂
2) I believe that you have other options, like the ones we show in this guide.
3) Sanchez is better than Mane but it depends of your play-style.
Regards
Great guide as always!
I have about 70k to improve this team (4-2-3-1 2):
Butland
Valencia-Alderweireld-Keane-Rose
Herrera-Matic
Mkhitaryan-Sigurdsson(OTW)-Son
Kane
So I am considering the following:
1) Sell Kane and get Zlatan – I have a very patient playing style, and wonder if Zlatan is a much better target man than Kane or not, as they are somehow similar in height/strenght. And as a United fan, of course I want Zlatan – but is it worth it? I’d rather win without him than lose with him.
2) Get Bailly. I think Keane is a monster, and IMO he is way better than Van Dijk, who I sold yesterday because of his way too often wrong positioning due to his high ATT WR. So it’s Bailly or continue with Keane. With shadow cards the only real difference on Keane vs Bailly is the pace – so is it worth the money?
3) Save for Courtous. Very uncertain whether he’s worth the money or not, because, as many says on the web nowadays, Butland is a MONSTER.
So what is the experts suggestions? 🙂
Forgot 4) Martial for Son
Well suddenly I packed Robben, so I will have 170k to improve 🙂
I am very uncertain about Martial for Son, because I loove the H/H of Son (and Micki)
You now have coins for almost all changes you want!
Yes, Martial is better than Son but now you also have coins for Mane. 🙂
Sanchez for Son? Or is his price not worth what he adds to my team compared to other potential upgrades?
Thank you.
1) Ibra is a great striker but Kane is also good. Both can be used as target man. You should invest in Ibra only if you think to use him as CAM (yes, he is a good option). Otherwise, he’s too expensive for such a small improvement.
2) Yes, Bailly is a good addition.
3) Courtois is a monster. 🙂
4) Not the best option.
If I was you, I would go for Bailly or think about playing with Ibra as CAM.
Thank you for the article. I have been following your artclies aince 2015, they have helped a lot. What do you think of Koscielny?
Thank you very much.
If I’m not wrong, he was our #7 (around it)
Your the best Rodrigo!!!
My team: tactic 4-3-3 (4)
Cech
Rose – Smalling – van Dijk – Aurier
Matic – Lallana – Herrera
Coutinho – Vardy – Salah
Bench:
Schmeichel
Alonso – Keane – Rojo – Bellarin
Bakayoko – Sigurdsson – Wijnaldoum
Son – Firmino – Sterling
What U thing about it? Have U some sugestion??
Hi. That’s a nice team for your budget. Here are a few points:
1) Double check if Smalling plays better than Keane.
2) Matic has to play in the middle.
Ok thanks a lot, I will try
One more question….
I have 80k coins, so whos next to buy?
Maybe kane
I got a decent Serie A squad.It’s 4-3-3. Suggestions/tips?

Thank you for your words.
If you compare your team with our suggestions, you will see that they are almost the same, which means that there is no much room for improvements.
If I had 30k and this team, I would start by upgrading it with Matic and Smalling.
Thank you for your reply.
Must I use smalling in the place of otamendi or mustafi?
Otamendi.
Hi! First of all, thank you for this work! Really nice guide! Following your suggestions I made this team:
Cech / Rose – Van Dijk – Smalling – Aurier / Matic – Lallana – Herrera / Martial – Salah – Vardy
How would you improve it? Thank you so much!
Nice team. You followed our suggestions, so there is no room for improvement unless you have a lot of coins to spend. If I was you, the next improvement would be Bailly.
Thank you for the guide,
A quick question,
My current lineup is:
GK: Schmeichel
RB: Aurier
CB: Keane
CB: Azpilicueta
LB: Rose
CDM: Fernandinho/Bakayoko
CM: Gundogan
CM: Dele
LW: Son
ST: Jesus
RW: Willian
And I have about 110000 coins to spend.
What would be the ideal upgrade now?
I suggest replacing Jesus by Lacazette.
Hello Everyone,
I am just wondering what I should do. I have about 144,000 coins and currently running the 41212 with this squad:
Butland
Aurier
keane
koscielny
kolasinac
matic
shaqiri
barkley
son
morata
jesus
On my bench I got antonio, sane, bakayoko, CB sanchez, reid, bolasie, schneiderlin, baines, zappacosta, renato sanches, gueye.
I have been doing okay with the 41212 wide but I have used the 433-4 and 4231-2 this year as well. I am just looking for a formation that could work with these guys. I like to play kind of quick with counter attack but I can hold possession if I need to.
Looking for an formation or player suggestions! I also have OTW Salah that I packed and wondering if I should sell him or keep him hoping for multiple IFs. I could use him but don’t know how he is in game and not sure if he’s as good as Mkhitaryan, willian, etc.
Thanks and I greatly appreciate it.
Hi. Let’s start with the OTW Salah question. If you believe he will get multiple IFs cards, keep with him. Otherwise, sell him.
ABout your team, it’s up to you to test and see which formation you like most. 41212 is widely known as one of the most used formations, so it may be a good option. Suggestions: Rose and Bernardo Silva and Sigurðsson. If you need coins, sell Jesus and replace him for Firmino. He is too expensive for what he gives to your team.
If you want to use your coins, you can improve your team much more. In that case, we would suggest Kane and Alderweireld .
Regards
Thanks again!
Some questions however:
I noticed you consider several attributes for different positions.
At the moment I am using the 433(4) formation with 2 CM and a CAM.
1. For the centre back position, height en heading skills are not (or not mentioned specificly) taking into consideration. Are these attributes less important?
2. for the CM and CAM position, shooting and work rates are very important I think. You seem to look more at dribbling skills and passing.
Depending on the play-style, shooting, strength and speed may be more important than passing and dribbling, correct?
I have got the following squad at the moment:
GK: Schmeichel
RB: Aurier
CB: Van Dijk
CB: Koscielny
LB: Rose
CM: Klaassen
CM: Wijnaldum
CAM: Dele
LW: Coutinho
ST: Jesus
RW: Mkhitaryan
Jesus is a player i am trying atm. Good striker but lacks strength.
I may be swapping him for somebody else.
With my current playing style (running midfielders) Klaassen en Wijnaldum are very usefull players. Both have H/H workrates (assist both defense and offense), have the speed to find space behind the defence, and the shooting abillities to finish created chances.
Any suggestions to improve based on play-style?
Hi.
1) This guide already has 10,000 words and for that reason, we need to cut a few things. For example, it’s not possible to publish a table of all important attributes for each position. Height and heading skills were not included but they were definitely taken into consideration, just like many others, to pick the best players.
2) Work rates are extremely important for almost every position but it is something that strongly depends on your playstyle and formation. In our opinion, shooting skills are not as important in a CM as dribbling skills are. For a CAM, the long shots are important but, once again, it depends on who is playing. Many people think that dribbling is all about skills but it is not. It is more about ball control and possession. Depending on the play-style, other factors can be more important yes, but for most of the players, we believe that passing and dribbling should be the ones they should pay more attention.
3) About your team, you picked good players for your budget. Wijnaldum is fast but Klaassen is not as fast as he could be. The good part is that he has a high stamina but, for the same speed, we still think you would be better with Lallana, who is also high/high. The other position you need to improve is your striker. Jesus is not a good value for money as we will explain tomorrow on our website.
Thanks a lot for your input Rodrigo!
I currently have 70k spare thanks to sbc. I will try Harry Kane as a striker. Thanks again!
Pay attention that his price may go up today because of his new POTM card
Thank you for the guide been waiting since the release. You do brilliant work keep it up
Thank you.
Hey! Need some help – Jesus vs firmino ?
Jesus is probably better but he is too expensive for what he really can do for you.
Thanks again for the BPL guide. really helpful once again.
Thank you.
Please do the bundesliga soon Rodrigo, I was waiting for this guide as well. Very nice
October 22
When It Will be posted the Guide for Cálcio A?
My calcio team (4312) is Donnaruma, Lichsteiner, Barzagli, Miranda, Rodriguez, Allan, Bonaventura, João Mario, Birsa, Imobille and Beloti! Do you suggest any chance? I have 20k and I am in doubt if Manolas or Koulibaly are better than Barzagli, if Khedira is better than Allan and If Parolo or Strootman are better than Bonaventura or João Mário. You can suggest any other chance!! Thanks, you Will help me a lot.
Estimated dates for the league guides:
LaLiga – Oct 15
Bundesliga – Oct 22
Calcio A – Oct 29
I also have a Calcio team. My lineup is Reina, Lichtsteiner, Miranda, Barzagli, Rodriguez, Callejon, Khedira, Strootman, Insigne, Dzeko and Mandzukic. I have in the bench Joao Mario, Bonaventura and De Rossi, which seems to me to be less effective than Sami and Stroot. Didn’t try Manolas or Koulibaly yet though.
Thank you for that guide…its very helpful…i want to ask sth…i use 4321 formation…i have so many player…de gea – kolasinac, bailly, mustafi, valencia…i think its ok but midfield and forwards are complicated, i have so many cards, because of packs opened…fabregas, wijnaldum, gueyye, sigurdsson, schneiderlein, rooney, kroos, khedira, rooney and i have to choose 3of them…i cant decide…and i have if locadia,he is very good and i want to play with HIM, than i have if Yarmolenko, rashford, promes, cavani….and i have 200k coin now for transfers….how can i build my Squad? Hybrid? Or only EPL…please help me ?
Hi. Thank you.
If I was you, I would sell the players you don’t need (including those IFs from other leagues) and buy/use the ones we suggest on the medium budget squad.
Thank you Rodrigo…?
De gea –
Valencia,bailly,mustafi, kolasinac
Wijnaldum,matic, Gündoğan
Mkhitaryan,vardy,son
Subs: rojo,clyne,gueyye, sigurdsson,Musa, rashford…
This is my New Squad…How is that? Whats your thinking? Do you have any advice for me Rodrigo? I may buy kante and lacazette after few weeks later when their prices will down…
Your team looks great. However, I would like to suggest Rose and maybe Smalling instead of Mustafi.
