Squad Suggestions
Building a Premier League squad in FC 27 Ultimate Team involves more than simply selecting the highest rated players available. The strongest team is one that matches your budget, formation, preferred style of play and the roles you want each player to perform.
Overall rating is useful, but it does not tell the whole story. Pace, defending, passing, dribbling, physicality, PlayStyles, Skill Moves and Weak Foot can have a greater effect on the pitch, depending on the position. Our recommendations therefore use the position specific scores from the Premier League player guides rather than relying only on overall ratings.
Squad balance is equally important. A fast full back can offer little value in a narrow system with no wide defenders, while two slow centre backs can leave a team vulnerable even if both have strong defending figures. The selected players are intended to complement one another, covering key strengths and limitations across the starting XI.
Chemistry should also be considered before making any purchase. Building within one league is the simplest way to create a full chemistry squad, although well planned hybrids can provide greater flexibility when a specific player offers a clear improvement.
This guide includes three Premier League squads for different budgets and formations: an unlimited budget 4-1-2-1-2, a medium budget 4-4-2 and a low budget 4-3-3. They are designed as practical starting points that you can adapt to your own preferences, available players and Transfer Market prices.
Methodology and Notes
These squad suggestions represent our assessment of the available regular Gold players. They are not intended to be the only correct solution, as the ideal team will always depend on your budget, formation, tactical approach, preferred roles and individual playing style.
The following criteria were applied throughout this guide:
- Only Gold Player Items:
Silver and Bronze players were excluded. The objective is to identify the strongest options among the regular Gold player pool. - Only Regular Gold Items:
In Form and other special items, including Icons, Heroes and Hall of FUT players, were not considered. These cards are usually more expensive and do not provide a consistent comparison with standard Gold items. - Current Club and Primary Position:
Players are assessed according to their latest available regular Gold item, using their current club and primary position. This ensures that transferred players are included with the club shown on their FC 27 card. - Position Specific Scores:
Each player score gives greater importance to the face stats most relevant to their position. It also considers total face stats, relevant PlayStyles, Skill Moves, Weak Foot and, where appropriate, height. - Squad Balance:
The recommendations consider how players work together. Defensive pace, midfield coverage, width, chance creation and complementary striker profiles are all considered alongside individual quality.
Unlimited Budget Squad
A complete 41212 Premier League squad built around elite regular Gold players.
Donnarumma leads the goalkeeper ranking, while Van Dijk and Saliba form the highest-scoring centre-back partnership available. Frimpong provides the best right-back score and exceptional attacking pace, while Nico O’Reilly is selected as the highest-ranked left-back option.
Rice is the leading defensive midfielder and supplies the protection needed behind the attacking players. Mbeumo and Cunha are the highest-scoring natural options for the wide midfield roles, with Szoboszlai selected as the top CAM in the published ranking.
Haaland and Gyökeres are the two highest-scoring strikers. Their physicality, finishing and direct running give the squad a powerful front line, while Marmoush offers a faster alternative from the bench.
The substitutes retain the next strongest options from each area of the pitch. Alisson, Matheus Nunes, Gabriel, Hincapié and Tonali provide elite rotation choices, while Enzo Fernández and Bruno Fernandes allow the midfield to become more controlled or creative when required.
Medium Budget Squad
A balanced 442 Premier League squad designed to fit around a 300k budget.
Raya is a strong medium-budget goalkeeper because he remains close to the very best scores without the early-market premium normally attached to Donnarumma and Alisson. Van de Ven gives the defensive line recovery pace, while Guéhi, Porro and Aït-Nouri provide reliable Gold options with balanced attributes for their positions.
Enzo Fernández and Bruno Guimarães are the highest-scoring central midfielders available outside the unlimited setup. They combine passing, dribbling and defensive contribution, allowing the team to control possession without sacrificing protection in central areas.
Kudus and Rashford bring pace and direct dribbling from wide positions. Ekitiké is the more mobile striker, capable of carrying the ball and linking play, while João Pedro offers close control and a different type of movement around the penalty area.
The bench adds alternatives that remain useful in a 300k squad. Gravenberch and Mac Allister can change the midfield balance, Palmer adds creativity, and Šeško offers a more physical and direct striker option when required.
Low Budget Squad
A competitive Premier League squad designed to fit around a 100k budget.
This squad is built around players who should remain accessible during the opening days while still performing well in the key areas identified by the positional rankings. Verbruggen, Livramento, Lacroix and Maatsen provide a quick, balanced defensive base without relying on the most expensive Gold cards in the league.
Garner offers the defensive discipline needed in front of the back four, while Alex Scott and Pape Matar Sarr supply mobility, passing and support in both phases of play. Their scores are lower than the premium midfield options, but they fit the budget and keep the team balanced.
Estêvão and Víctor Muñoz provide pace and direct running from the wings, creating room for Kroupi to attack central areas. Kroupi is one of the strongest lower-cost scoring options and gives the team more finishing quality than his overall rating might suggest.
The substitutes provide cover in every area while preserving the low-budget focus. Roefs, Vušković and Talbi are particularly useful early-cycle options, while André, Hackney and Evanilson offer practical changes in midfield and attack without requiring major investment.
