Introduction to the FUT 14 Serie A Guide

Building a team is the biggest challenge in FIFA 14 Ultimate Team. It doesn’t need to be the best team, even because the budget may not allow it, but it needs to be the player’s stature for him to obtain success.

When choosing which players to play with, you will have to look carefully at their attributes. Choosing a team based on ratings is one of the most common mistakes on FUT 14. It’s precisely this aspect that this guide focuses on. For each position, and focusing on the truly important attributes, we’ll show who are the best athletes to choose.

It’s also important that the player checks to see if the player he chooses fits the formations he likes to play in. For example, a good full back will be useless if the player only uses formations with three defenders. According to those formations, the player must be cautious to look at the work rates, trying to relate them with the ones we advise in our Formations Guide.

Last but not least, it’s mandatory that you tune all of your team so that the individual and team chemistry be as high possible. For this last step to be easier, the majority of the players start to define the type of team they’re building. Some choose gathering players of the same nationality, while others decide to form a team of players from the same league. The most popular leagues are the Brazilians and the Barclays Premier League. There are also more experienced players that can form hybrid teams without damaging the chemistry a lot.

All of these steps are necessary to have; it could be that the team is not always well built as it could’ve been. This article aims to help those that think or want to form a FIFA 14 Ultimate Team based on players from the Serie A. Even the ones have one, could take out some valuable conclusion from this guide that could help turn your team even better.

It’s important that the readers understand that this guide is simply guidance. It’s a theme too vast and the player’s combinations are almost infinite. Besides, there are various factors that influence the choices, like it’s one’s style of play, the formations used, the available budget, the preferences or even the time spent playing. There’s still one uncertain component: a good player for someone might not be for another. If there was a better team everyone would fight to get it. Part of the fun of FIFA 14 Ultimate Team is this: everyone has their personal club and players.

Another important point and that must stay very clear is that whoever is reading this guide, it’s about some criteria we chose and should be of everyone’s knowledge:

  • Only Gold Players
    • In this guide we didn’t consider silver or bronze player. Most players don’t assume them to be a better option than gold players, so to simplify the guide’s analysis we didn’t include them. In the future we may come to publish guides exclusively talking about these categories.
  • Only Regular Players
    • In this guide we didn’t consider In Forms (IF). They’re extremely expensive and in most cases are not considered good value for money. They should only be used by players with generous budgets, that already have the best team possible and that want small upgrades.
  • Only Normal Players
    • In this guide we didn’t consider players that have been transferred to other clubs or that have been reviewed (UP). Only players that started their season in the Serie A and with their original attributes were considered.
  • Only Original Attributes
    • In this guide we didn’t consider changes made on a players performance such happens when applying training or chemistry styles cards.
  • Position analysis
    • To make the comprehension of this guide easier we divided the players in nine distinct groups in order of their original position: Goalkeeper (GK), central backs (CB), right backs (RB and RWB), left backs (LB and LWB), central defensive midfielders (CDM) central midfielders (CM and CAM), right midfielders (RM, RW and RF), left midfielders (LM, LW and LF) and forwards (CF and ST).
  • Prices at the date of publication of the guide
    • In the chapter where FIFA 14 Ultimate Team Serie A teams are suggested, the prices considered are the ones of the date of the guide’s publication: February 2014. It’s natural that the prices have suffered some oscillations throughout the season, so they should only be considered as guiding prices.

    Serie A

The Serie A is one of the most competitive leagues of the world, but the football is not as spectacular as it is in UK, Spain or Germany.

The qualification of the champion is made through the made points system. Whichever team gathers the most points wins the league. The first three classified gain access to the champions league of the next year, while the fourth and fifth qualify to the Europa League and the last three trade places with the first three qualified of the Serie B. Every season starts in September and finishes in May, having 38 game weeks with ten matches each, being a total of 380 matches per season.

The Serie A is the fourth best league classified in the UEFA league coefficients.

Started in 1898, the Italian league has been conquered by sixteen clubs. The dominant club is Juventus, with a total of 31 titles. AC Milan (18), Inter (18) and Genova (9) are the other teams that won more titles.

As to last season, the Serie A lost some good players such as Kevin Prince-Boateng (Schalke 04), Taiwo (Bursaspor), Bojan (Barcelona), Lamela (Tottenham), Oswaldo (Southampton), Konate (Lleida Esportiu), Marquinhos (Paris Saint Germain), Sissoko (Paris Saint Germain), Jovetic (Manchester City), Sebastian Frey (Bursaspor), Anelka (West Bromwich Albion) and Felipe Melo (Galatasaray). But, the biggest out transfer was the move of Cavani from Nápoles to Paris Saint Germain by 64 million Euros.

These transfers didn’t necessarily make the Serie A weaker. The Italians teams spent many million Euros on strong reinforcements: Gervinho (Roma), Konaté (Roma), Maicon (Roma), Anderson (Fiorentina), Mario Gómez (Fiorentina), Llorente (Juventus), D. Mertens (Nápoles) and Jadson (Udinese). But the biggest signings of the season happened in Milan and Turim. Kaka and Carlos Tévez joined to Serie A by only 12 million Euros.

The choices are a lot for which our guide will certainly be useful as to building a team with players from this league. Serie A is a good choice to who is looking for quality players, but don’t have a large budget. There is no many choices, but the players of Serie A are probably the best value for money.

FUT 14 Serie A Goalkeepers (GK)

Goalkeepers are the players that are less used on field. Because of this they are also the disdained when building a team. Most players start their purchases with a forward, later they strengthen the midfield the defence and only later the goal. The truth is a good goalkeeper may be worth a lot of goals. It’s good investment because they’re normally the most economically accessible players.

Gianluigi Buffon is the more popular goalkeeper from Serie A. To come gamers, he is the best FUT 14 goalkeeper. Only Handanovic and Marchetti have a rating that can be compared. For having the best rating they are also the most searched by this league’s teams so they’re more expensive.

    MOST HIGH-RATED GOALKEEPERS
    Gianluigi Buffon 86 Italy Juventus
    Federico Marchetti 84 Italy Lazio
    Samir Handanovic 84 Slovenia Inter
    José Reina 83 Spain Napoli
Morgan De Sanctis 81 Italy Roma
    Christian Abbiati 80 Italy Milan
    Andrea Consigli 80 Italy Atalanta
    Marco Storari 78 Italy Juventus
    Željko Brkic 77 Serbia Udinese
    Rafael 77 Brazil Napoli

When choosing a good goalkeeper it’s not only down to his rating. There are two fundamental attributes for choosing a good goalkeeper: reflexes and diving.

The first measures a goalkeeper’s agility when making a save. The best on this aspect are Marchetti and Handanovic. Buffon is one of the Serie A goalkeepers with worse reflexes.

    GOALKEEPERS WITH BEST REFLEXES
    Federico Marchetti 89 Italy Lazio
    Samir Handanovic 88 Slovenia Inter
    Andrea Consigli 86 Italy Atalanta
    José Reina 84 Spain Napoli
    Christian Abbiati 84 Italy Milan
Nikolay Mihaylov 84 Bulgaria Hellas Verona
    Michael Agazzi 84 Italy Cagliari
    Rafael 83 Brazil Napoli
Juan Pablo Carrizo 82 Argentina Inter
    Mattia Perin 82 Italy Genoa

Diving is a fundamental attribute when choosing a goalkeeper. It measures the capacity for a goalkeeper to make a save when jumping.

In the world, only Diego Alves has a diving as good as Buffon has. Marchetti is another goalkeeper with a great diving.

    GOALKEEPER WITH BEST DIVING
    Gianluigi Buffon 90 Italy Juventus
    Federico Marchetti 87 Italy Lazio
    Samir Handanovic 87 Slovenia Inter
    Christian Abbiati 84 Italy Milan
    Željko Brkic 84 Serbia Udinese
    José Reina 83 Spain Napoli
Morgan De Sanctis 82 Italy Roma
    Andrea Consigli 82 Italy Atalanta
    Rafael 82 Brazil Napoli
    Marco Storari 80 Italy Juventus

The most experienced Ultimate Team players know that another leaning factor on a goalkeeper’s performance without considering the remaining four attributes: height. The more tall a goalkeeper is, better his chances of having a clean sheet.

This is Marchetti’s weak point. Even though he can’t be considered a short goalkeeper, the truth is he’s 6 cm shorter than Željko Brkic, Nikolay Mihaylov and Mariano Andújar, the tallest gold goalkeepers of Serie A

    TALLEST GOALKEEPERS
    Željko Brkic 194 Serbia Udinese
Nikolay Mihaylov 194 Bulgaria Hellas Verona
    Mariano Andújar 194 Argentina Catania
    Samir Handanovic 193 Slovenia Inter
    Antonio Mirante 193 Italy Parma
    Gianluigi Buffon 191 Italy Juventus
    Christian Abbiati 191 Italy Milan
Morgan De Sanctis 190 Italy Roma
    Marco Amelia 190 Italy Milan
    Andrea Consigli 189 Italy Atalanta

The choice for the best Serie A goalkeeper on FIFA 14 Ultimate team, is easy.

In our opinion, Gianluigi Buffon is still the best choice. Besides being the best with one of the two most important attributes, he’s also who has the best positioning in the whole game. For us, Handanovic is the best alternative to the Italian Champion. Marchetti is very similar to him, but the Slovenian GK is 5 cm taller.

For those who want a cheap goalkeeper, Hosé Reina is a great choice. He is not as good as the three best Serie A goalkeepers but he is cheap to the quality he has.

FUT 14 Serie A Central Backs (CB)

A goalkeepers task is made easier if in front of him are quality central backs. Their function is to stop the opponent from getting dangerously close to your team’s goal.

Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli are the central backs with the best reputation in the Serie A. No other players can be compared to them.

    HIGHEST RATED CENTRAL BACKS
    Giorgio Chiellini 86 Italy Juventus
    Andrea Barzagli 84 Italy Juventus
    Walter Samuel 82 Argentina Inter
    Medhi Benatia 82 Morocco Roma
    Hugo Campagnaro 82 Argentina Inter
    Philippe Mexès 81 France Milan
    Nicolás Spolli 80 Argentina Catania
    Maurizio Domizzi 80 Italy Udinese
    Angelo Ogbonna 80 Italy Juventus
    Danilo 80 Brazil Udinese

On a central back, two attributes assume particular importance on their performance: defending and heading.

A player with better defending will have an easier chance of dispossessing the opponent and avoid him reaching your box.

It’s the case of the best rated player: Giorgio Chiellini. It’s really hard to get past him. The most experienced players are normally those who have a higher rating on this attribute. Walter Samuel proves this.

    CENTRAL BACKS WITH BETTER DEFENDING
    Walter Samuel 87 Argentina Inter
    Giorgio Chiellini 86 Italy Juventus
    Andrea Barzagli 86 Italy Juventus
    Medhi Benatia 84 Morocco Roma
    Hugo Campagnaro 84 Argentina Inter
    Nicolás Spolli 83 Argentina Catania
    Maurizio Domizzi 82 Italy Udinese
    Angelo Ogbonna 82 Italy Juventus
    Danilo 82 Brazil Udinese
    Andrea Ranocchia 82 Italy Inter

On a game partially made difficult on stopping an opponent’s header in our box, possessing good heading is even more important on a central back than it was before. Allow him to be superior in your box when defending air balls but it’s also worth it on set pieces, like corners where a central backs jump may just be worth some goals.

In this chapter Leonardo Bonucci and Matías Silvestre are the strongest ones, both with great jumping stat. In the other hand, Andrea Ranocchia is the tallest CB of Serie A but he is also one of the players with worse heading

    CENTRAL BACKS WITH BETTER HEADING
    Leonardo Bonucci 84 Italy Juventus
    Matías Silvestre 83 Italy Milan
    Giorgio Chiellini 82 Italy Juventus
    Philippe Mexès 82 France Milan
    Paolo Cannavaro 82 Italy Napoli
    Stefan Savic 82 Montenegro Fiorentina
    Nicolás Spolli 81 Argentina Catania
    Gabriel Paletta 81 Argentina Parma
    Nicolás Burdisso 81 Argentina Roma
    Nicola Legrottaglie 81 Italy Catania

Defending and heading may be useless against fast opponents. It’s necessary to fight fire with fire. No likes feeling impotent when seeing you get overrun by extremely fast players. Even though, in a way, centre backs aren’t that fast, every team needs one of these players with a high pace attribute.

Chiellini is the best central back from Serie A. Barzagli is also very popular but he is much more slow. For that reason, Martín Cáceres and Angelo Ogbonna may be good alternatives to the Italian player.

    CENTRAL BACKS WITH BETTER PACE
    Martín Cáceres 81 Uruguay Juventus
    Juan Jesus 79 Brazil Inter
    Giorgio Chiellini 77 Italy Juventus
    Angelo Ogbonna 77 Italy Juventus
    Alessandro Gamberini 75 Italy Genoa
    Federico Peluso 74 Italy Juventus
    Medhi Benatia 73 Morocco Roma
    Cristian Zapata 73 Colombia Milan
    Leonardo Bonucci 72 Italy Juventus
    Nenad Tomovic 72 Serbia Fiorentina

Chiellini intercepts everything that is at his reach. His place in any Serie A based squad is unquestionable.

Benefiting from their popularity and their characteristic for a good chemistry, Barzagli come up as being one of the first choices for teams based on the main Italian League. He is without a doubt a good player for this position but there are other cheaper and faster solutions. Like, Martín Cáceres, Angelo Ogbonna and Medhi Benatia, the central backs with best average between the three most important attributes we considered (excepting Chiellini).

FUT 14 Serie A Right Backs (RB and RWB)

Full backs have the role of troubling the mission of the wingers. Not only. In addition, good full backs also support their team mates on offensive maneuvers.

Maicon, Abate and Konko are the three best players in a position that Serie A doesn’t have many good choices.

    HIGHEST RATED RIGHT BACKS
    Abdoulay Konko 79 France Lazio
    Ignazio Abate 78 Italy Milan
    Maicon 78 Brazil Roma
Mattia De Sciglio 77 Italy Milan
    Vassilis Torosidis 76 Greece Roma

There are very important attributes in any right back: defending and pace.

Since they’re defenders they should have good defending capacities. This reduces a team’s risk of conceding.

Maicon is the players that best fits this aspect. The only other players that offer any type of competition is Konko.

    RIGHT BACKS WITH BETTER DEFENDING
    Maicon 79 Brazil Roma
    Abdoulay Konko 77 France Lazio
Mattia De Sciglio 74 Italy Milan
    Vassilis Torosidis 74 Greece Roma
    Ignazio Abate 73 Italy Milan

A flanked game tends to be faster than a game based in the middle of the field. The players that fill these spaces are obligated to be fast, both penetrating defensive and attacking moves of the team. Pace is one of the most important requirements for a good full back.

Between all of the right backs of FUT 14, Abate is clearly the fastest one. This is the weakest point of Maicon, the fourth fastest Serie A Right Back.

    RIGHT BACKS WITH BETTER PACE
    Ignazio Abate 93 Italy Milan
    Abdoulay Konko 86 France Lazio
Mattia De Sciglio 84 Italy Milan
    Maicon 79 Brazil Roma
    Vassilis Torosidis 76 Greece Roma

Abate and Maicon are undoubtedly the best right backs playing on Serie A. The Italian player is faster and more attacking. Maicon has the best passing and shooting but he is better on the defence also thanks to his strength. If you don’t have enough coins to buy any of these two players, choose Abdoulay Konko.

Best FUT 14 Serie A Left Backs (LB e LWB)

Left backs have exactly the same role of their team mates on the other flank. In other words, they try to make a winger’s job hard and participate on the team’s offensive manoeuvres.

There are only two gold players on Serie A for this position: Kévin Constant and Stefan Radu

    HIGHEST RATED LEFT BACKS
    Kévin Constant 78 Guinea Milan
    Stefan Radu 78 Romania Lazio

From these two players, Radu is the one who has better defending stats.

    LEFT BACKS WITH BETTER DEFENDING
    Stefan Radu 82 Romania Lazio
    Kévin Constant 77 Guinea Milan

If it is true that Radu is better on the defence, it is also true that Kévin Constant is faster.

    LEFT BACKS WITH BETTER PACE
    Kévin Constant 83 Guinea Milan
    Stefan Radu 78 Romania Lazio

The two gold left backs from Serie A are too different from each other. The attributes and the work rates show that Kévin Constant is more attacking and Stefan Radu is more defensive. The right choice depends of what kind of player are you looking for your team. For us, the AC Milan player is the best one. If you want more alternatives, you can try Criscito on Serie A team.

Best FUT 14 Serie A Defensive Midfielder (CDM)

Many of the FIFA 14 Ultimate Team formations require some midfielders that have a natural aptitude to defend. Central defensive midfielders distinguish themselves for being especially aimed to help the more retreated line of their teams. According to their attributes and their work rates, they can also be useful for starting attacks. They are players that occupy a very strategic position in the field.

The supremacy of Daniele De Rossi over all other Serie A central defensive midfielders is extremely clear.

    HIGHEST RATED CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS
Daniele De Rossi 84 Italy Roma
Nigel de Jong 79 Netherlands Milan
    Esteban Cambiasso 78 Argentina Inter
    Walter Gargano 77 Uruguay Parma
    Massimo Ambrosini 76 Italy Fiorentina

There are a variety of attributes in a central defensive midfielder that you have to give attention: defending, so that the first defender of team works; strength, so that you win all brawls on a prone area of the field; heading, to win possession in aerial moves like goal kicks; pace, so that you cover the most terrain on the field as possible; stamina, so they can equally participate in offensive a defensive moves (especially useful for players with high/high work rates); passing and possession so that he can properly start attacks. In our opinion the two first are the most important.

Normally using a central defensive midfielder is associated with having a deficit of elements in your defence. So, it makes sense that when you search for a player to occupy this position you’d want players that can defend.

The CDM with best defending stats is Daniele De Rossi. Beisdes that, only Ambrosini has a better heading than him, so he is a really good choice for teams that want to complicate an opponent’s game in the space between the midfield and the defence.

CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS WITH BETTER DEFENDING
Daniele De Rossi 83 Italy Roma
Nigel de Jong 81 Netherlands Milan
    Massimo Ambrosini 79 Italy Fiorentina
    Esteban Cambiasso 78 Argentina Inter
    Walter Gargano 76 Uruguay Parma

The area of the field occupied by the central defensive midfielders is the one where most ball dispute happen. Strong players will have a higher probability of winning the ball.

There’s not much of muscle between the central defensive midfielders of Serie A. Once again, Daniele De Rossi is the one that stands out. On the other hand there’s Walter Gargano. The Parma’s player rarely wins a physical brawl due to being the weakest central defensive midfielder from the main Italian League.

    STRONGEST CENTRAL DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS
Daniele De Rossi 83 Italy Roma
    Massimo Ambrosini 78 Italy Fiorentina
    Zdravko Kuzmanovic 76 Serbia Inter
Nigel de Jong 75 Netherlands Milan
    Esteban Cambiasso 74 Argentina Inter

Daniele De Rossi is our first choice for this position. He is the best defensive midfielder on the most important attributes. He is also the best in four of the six main attributes and the second best on the other two.

Esteban Cambiasso is our economic choice.

Best FUT 14 Serie A Central Midfielders (CM e CAM)

A lot of games are decided on the midfield and not close to the goals. The players that play in these zones are the ones that should create the game and define its rhythm.

There is many quality in the Serie A midfield. Some of the best footballers of this league play in this position. It’s the case of Pirlo and Vidal.

    HIGHEST RATED CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS
    Andrea Pirlo 86 Italy Juventus
    Arturo Vidal 85 Chile Juventus
    Riccardo Montolivo 84 Italy Milan
    Claudio Marchisio 84 Italy Juventus
    Marek Hamšik 84 Slovakia Napoli
    Alessandro Diamanti 83 Italy Bologna
    Hernanes 83 Brazil Lazio
    Borja Valero 82 Spain Fiorentina
    Kaká 82 Brazil Milan
    Fredy Guarín 81 Colombia Inter

Central midfielders are responsible for discovering lines that break the opponents defence. Their passing quality has to be really good so they can assist forwards.

Even though Montolivo and Pizarro are on the top table of the players with best passing skills, Pirlo is who stands out by being who does it better. In the whole world, only Xavi is better than him.

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS WITH BETTER PASSING
    Andrea Pirlo 91 Italy Juventus
    Riccardo Montolivo 87 Italy Milan
    David Pizarro 87 Chile Fiorentina
    Borja Valero 86 Spain Fiorentina
    Francesco Lodi 86 Italy Genoa
    Alessandro Diamanti 85 Italy Bologna
    Luca Cigarini 85 Italy Atalanta
    Alberto Aquilani 84 Italy Fiorentina
    Jaime Valdés 84 Chile Parma
    Claudio Marchisio 83 Italy Juventus

Hernanes has the best dribbling of Serie A. On Italy, only Kaka e Diamanti can be compared with him in this aspect.

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS WITH BETTER DRIBBLING
    Hernanes 86 Brazil Lazio
    Alessandro Diamanti 84 Italy Bologna
    Kaká 84 Brazil Milan
    Claudio Marchisio 83 Italy Juventus
    Fredy Guarín 83 Colombia Inter
    Ederson 83 Brazil Lazio
    Andrea Pirlo 82 Italy Juventus
    Arturo Vidal 82 Chile Juventus
    Marek Hamšik 82 Slovakia Napoli
    David Pizarro 82 Chile Fiorentina

Pirlo is the best midfielder of Serie A. His ball control, long passing and vision are simply amazing. His only problem is to be a slow player. Vidal is the most popular alternative. He is fast, very balanced and can play very well as a CDM. He has a stamina of 93 which is great for a payer with a work rate high/high. Marchisio and Guarin are players not much different from the Chilean player but with worse defending stats. Hernanes and Hamsik are the right choices for who needs an attacking midfielder.

Our cheapest choice falls to Diamanti and David Pizarro. Excepting Pirlo, they are the two best players on the stats we consider more important.

Serie A Right Wingers (RM, RW e RF)

The wingers are responsible for giving game width in the attack. They’re normally very explosive players.

Candreva and Joaquín are the most popular right wings from Serie A but it doesn’t means that they are the best ones.

    HIGHEST RATED RIGHT WINGERS
    Antonio Candreva 82 Italy Lazio
    Joaquín 82 Spain Fiorentina
    Juan Cuadrado 81 Colombia Fiorentina
    Alessio Cerci 81 Italy Torino
    Jonathan Biabiany 80 France Parma
    Christian Maggio 79 Italy Napoli
    Simone Pepe 78 Italy Juventus
    Stephan Lichtsteiner 78 Switzerland Juventus
    Dušan Basta 78 Serbia Udinese
    Pablo Barrientos 78 Argentina Catania

There are three fundamental attribute on a winger: pace, dribbling and passing.

Pace is probably the biggest weapon of these players. They use it to evade opponents and getting to the other side, many times through sprints on the side lines.

Among all FUT 14 players, only Walcott and Mathis Bolly have better pace than Biabiany. There are two other right midfielders with a pace over 90.

    FASTEST RIGHT WINGERS
    Jonathan Biabiany 96 France Parma
    Juan Cuadrado 93 Colombia Fiorentina
    José Callejón 90 Spain Napoli
    M’Baye Niang 86 Senegal Milan
    Antonio Candreva 84 Italy Lazio
    Alessio Cerci 84 Italy Torino
    Simone Pepe 84 Italy Juventus
    Christian Maggio 83 Italy Napoli
    Stephan Lichtsteiner 83 Switzerland Juventus
    Mauricio Isla 81 Chile Juventus

Just being fast doesn’t cut it to reach the opponents box, having good dribbling to surpass the opponents’ players that appear on the way.

The two players with higher ratings are also the ones with best dribbling: Joaquín and Candreva.

    RIGHT WINGERS WITH BETTER DRIBLLING
    Joaquín 87 Spain Fiorentina
    Juan Cuadrado 87 Colombia Fiorentina
    Pablo Barrientos 85 Argentina Catania
    Antonio Candreva 84 Italy Lazio
    Alessio Cerci 84 Italy Torino
    Jonathan Biabiany 83 France Parma
    M’Baye Niang 81 Senegal Milan
    Simone Pepe 80 Italy Juventus
    Javier Zanetti 79 Argentina Inter
    Dušan Basta 78 Serbia Udinese

When reaching the opponents box the winger has to decide what to do. Normally, they choose to cross to the forwards. That is why it’s important for them to have good passing.

Joaquín and Cuadrado are the players with better passing but the Spanish player is better on crossings. José Callejón, for example, could’ve been an option to consider filling this slot in virtue of his fantastic pace, but he’s affected negatively for missing frequently passes to his more forward team mates.

    RIGHT WINGERS WITH BETTER PASSING
    Joaquín 84 Spain Fiorentina
    Antonio Candreva 82 Italy Lazio
    Alessio Cerci 81 Italy Torino
    Christian Maggio 81 Italy Napoli
    Javier Zanetti 80 Argentina Inter
    Pablo Barrientos 79 Argentina Catania
    Stephan Lichtsteiner 78 Switzerland Juventus
    Dušan Basta 78 Serbia Udinese
    Mauricio Isla 77 Chile Juventus
Boško Jankovic 77 Serbia Hellas Verona

Juan Cuadrado is clearly the most indicated player to occupy this position in a Serie A team. He is really fast, has a good passing and his dribbling is great.

Biabiany is, to us, the second best right midfielder. His passing and dribbling are not so good, but his pace is something unbelievable. If you don’t need someone so fast, you can try Candreva.

Joaquín is our economic choice. He is a slow player but in the others stats he is as good as the better ones.

Serie A Left Wingers (LM, LW e LF)

The left wingers have exactly the same role as their team mates from the other side.

El Shaarawy and Totti are the most popular left midfielders of Serie A.

    HIGHEST RATED LEFT WINGERS
    Francesco Totti 82 Italy Roma
Stephan El Shaarawy 81 Italy Milan
    Dries Mertens 80 Belgium Napoli
    Kwadwo Asamoah 80 Ghana Juventus
Juan Camilo Zúñiga 79 Colombia Napoli
    Gervinho 79 Ivory Coast Roma
Senad Lulic 79 Bosnia Herzegovina Lazio
    Giacomo Bonaventura 79 Italy Atalanta
    Pablo Armero 78 Colombia Napoli
    Álvaro Pereira 78 Uruguay Inter

Pablo Armero is the only left midfielder of Serie A that can reaches the pace of 90. The player with highest rating is also the one with worse pace: Totti.

    LEFT WINGERS WITH BETTER PACE
    Pablo Armero 90 Colombia Napoli
Juan Camilo Zúñiga 88 Colombia Napoli
    Gervinho 88 Ivory Coast Roma
Stephan El Shaarawy 87 Italy Milan

    Kwadwo Asamoah 83 Ghana Juventus
    Giacomo Bonaventura 82 Italy Atalanta
    Álvaro Pereira 81 Uruguay Inter

The four players with highest ratings are the ones with best dribbling.

    LEFT WINGERS WITH BETTER DRIBBLING
Stephan El Shaarawy 85 Italy Milan
    Francesco Totti 84 Italy Roma

    Sebastián Leto 82 Argentina Catania
    Giacomo Bonaventura 81 Italy Atalanta
    Mario Santana 81 Argentina Genoa
Senad Lulic 79 Bosnia Herzegovina Lazio

Totti is clearly the best fitted passer between the remaining left wingers. No one can be compared with him.

    LEFT WINGERS WITH BETTER PASSING
    Francesco Totti 88 Italy Roma
Juan Manuel Vargas 81 Peru Fiorentina
Senad Lulic 79 Bosnia Herzegovina Lazio
    Álvaro Pereira 79 Uruguay Inter
    Kwadwo Asamoah 78 Ghana Juventus

Juan Camilo Zúñiga 77 Colombia Napoli
    Pablo Armero 77 Colombia Napoli
    Manuel Pasqual 77 Italy Fiorentina
    Yuto Nagatomo 76 Japan Inter

Totti has amazing stats but he is too slow to play on this position. In our opinion, Stephan El Shaarawy is the best left midfielder of Serie A.

For those that don’t want to pay as many coins for the Milan’s winger, Kwadwo Asamoah is a good alternative, specially for who is looking for a player that attacks but also defends.

Our cheap suggestion is Pablo Armero. Only Zúñiga and El Shaarawy can be better than him on the average of the three most important attributes in a player of this position.

Serie A Forwards (CF e ST)

The forwards are the players on which fall the most responsibility of scoring goals.

There are many good forwards on Serie A.

    HIGHEST RATED FORWARDS
    Carlos Tévez 86 Argentina Juventus
    Mario Gomez 86 Germany Fiorentina
Antonio Di Natale 85 Italy Udinese
    Mario Balotelli 84 Italy Milan
    Gonzalo Higuaín 84 Argentina Napoli
    Mirko Vucinic 83 Montenegro Juventus
    Miroslav Klose 83 Germany Lazio
    Rodrigo Palacio 82 Argentina Inter
    Diego Milito 82 Argentina Inter
    Llorente 82 Spain Juventus
    Fabio Quagliarella 81 Italy Juventus
    Giuseppe Rossi 81 Italy Fiorentina
    Antonio Cassano 81 Italy Parma
    Germán Denis 80 Argentina Atalanta
    Luis Muriel 80 Colombia Udinese

To score goals shooting is necessary. If either by foot or head, the most important attribute for a forward are: shooting, heading and pace.

Most goals are scored with the foot so good shooting is a necessary attribute for a forward.

Di Natale has the best shooting and the second best finishing of the Serie A.

    FORWARDS WITH BETTER SHOOTING
Antonio Di Natale 86 Italy Udinese
    Carlos Tévez 85 Argentina Juventus
    Fabio Quagliarella 84 Italy Juventus
    Mario Balotelli 82 Italy Milan
    Giuseppe Rossi 82 Italy Fiorentina
    Gonzalo Higuaín 81 Argentina Napoli
    Mirko Vucinic 81 Montenegro Juventus
    Rodrigo Palacio 81 Argentina Inter
Goran Pandev 81 FYR Macedonia Napoli
    Antonio Cassano 80 Italy Parma
Sergio Pellissier 80 Italy Chievo Verona
    Mario Gomez 79 Germany Fiorentina
    Diego Milito 79 Argentina Inter
    Josip Ilicic 79 Slovenia Fiorentina
    Germán Denis 78 Argentina Atalanta

On FUT 14, knowing how to head gained another importance. Plenty of goals are born like this.

Unlike with shooting there’s no proportionality between players with high ratings and players with good heading. Serie A player with best heading is Amauri, one of the gold forwards with lowest rating. If you are looking a more balanced player that can also be used on crosses, Klose and Llorente are good choices.

    FORWARDS WITH BETTER HEADING
    Amauri 88 Italy Parma
    Llorente 87 Spain Juventus
    Miroslav Klose 86 Germany Lazio
    Germán Denis 86 Argentina Atalanta
    Mario Gomez 84 Germany Fiorentina
    Giampaolo Pazzini 84 Italy Milan
    Alberto Gilardino 83 Italy Genoa
    Mauricio Pinilla 82 Chile Cagliari
    Rolando Bianchi 81 Italy Bologna
    Diego Milito 80 Argentina Inter
Cyril Théréau 80 France Chievo Verona
    Sergio Floccari 80 Italy Lazio
    Marco Borriello 80 Italy Roma
    Alessandro Matri 80 Italy Milan
    Ciro Immobile 80 Italy Torino

Depending on the style of play and formation having good shooting and heading may not be enough for a striker. Especially in games that privilege counter-attack, pace is a very important attribute.

Víctor Ibarbo is the fastest forward of Serie A. There are many other fast forwards.

    FORWARDS WITH BETTER PACE
    Víctor Ibarbo 93 Colombia Cagliari
    Sebastian Giovinco 91 Italy Juventus
    Marco Sau 91 Italy Cagliari
    Luis Muriel 89 Colombia Udinese
    Maximiliano Moralez 89 Argentina Atalanta
    Lorenzo Insigne 89 Italy Napoli
Antonio Di Natale 86 Italy Udinese
    Rodrigo Palacio 85 Argentina Inter
    Mario Balotelli 84 Italy Milan
    Robinho 82 Brazil Milan
    Manolo Gabbiadini 82 Italy Sampdoria
    Carlos Tévez 81 Argentina Juventus
    Adem Ljajic 81 Serbia Roma
    Mirko Vucinic 80 Montenegro Juventus
    Giuseppe Rossi 80 Italy Fiorentina

There are three amazing forwards on Serie A: Mario Balotelli, Carlos Tévez and Antonio Di Natale. The Milan’s player is very strong and the other two can play as CF or CAM. The work rates of each of these players show exactly how they are on the field.

If you don’t have enough coins to buy them, you have other good forwards to choose. That choice is subjective because it depends of your play style. In our opinion, Mario Gomez, Miroslav Klose and Llorente are the best ones for who wants a player with good heading; Rodrigo Palácio, Giovinco and Ibarbo for who likes to play in counters and needs a fast player; Higuain and for who is looking for a finisher.

    Serie A Team Suggestions

A lot of people think that this is the most important part of the guide. It’s not. The thing that is really important to know is how to choose player based on their role and style of play that fits each player. And that is made in the previous chapters. The team suggestions that follow are simple graphic indicators of what we wrote previously. They should serve merely as orientation because it’s impossible to build a team that fits everyone. They depend on various factors we don’t know such as budget, formation, style of play and player preferences.

To try and explore the needs of the maximum player as possible we suggest three teams with different budgets and formations: 4-1-2-1-2 with unlimited budget, 4-3-3 with 35k budget and 4-4-2 with a 15k budget.

    • Summary
    • The choice for this team’s player was based on analysis made in the previous chapters.
In goal, Buffon is better than Handanovic. The Inter’s goalkeeper is a good alternative for who can’t lives with the low reflexes of Buffon.
In centre back position, Chiellini is unquestionable. Benatia and Ogbonna are also good players to this position. In the right side, the pace of Abate is more important than the higher technical quality of Maicon. In the other side, and since there are only two players for this position, Domenico Criscito can take the place we gave to Kévin Constant.
As CDM we have chosen Arturo Vidal instead of De Rossi. The two wingers are irreplaceable, but the same doesn’t happen with Di Natale. Many players don’t need a fast player to this position and, in that case, Pirlo should be perfect.
On the attack, Di Natale is the only one that can replace Balotelli and Tévez.

In goal, Handanovic is a cheaper alternative to Buffon. In the defence, the four players are the same, except Chiellini that was replaced by Benatia due to his price.
On the midfield, Daniele De Rossi plays on the centre to help the back four. Guarin and Marchisio are also good players for this position specially for who wants a more attacking player than De Rossi. The other two midfielders are the attacking players: Hamsik and Hernanes are our first choices.
Cuadrado and Asamoah are responsible to assist Mario Gomez, a very balanced striker.

In goal José Reina is a true penny saver. In front of him, Zapata and Juan Jesus close the path to goal. Konko and Constant are the other two defenders.

The biggest new of this team is the pair Pabo Armero / David Pizarro that with their pace, dribbling, and above average passing give width to the attack. On a 442 formation it may be a good option to use someone more defensive, like Cambiasso.
On the last third of the field, Joaquín and Nainggolan are great players that support the strikers Milito and Klose, two really cheap and popular players.

      Hybrid Squads

Building a hybrid team is not usually an easy task. The biggest difficulty is finding key players to join between different leagues.

The Serie A is not a good league to hybrid squads because there are very few Italian players playing outside the country.

The teams with greatest quality are the result of the combination of Serie A with Bundesliga, Brazilian players and Argentine players. Klose, Mario Gomez, Hernanes, Kaka, Maicon, Danilo, Tevez, Higuaín, Diego Milito, Hugo Campagnaro, Rodrigo Palacio, Walter Samuel and Esteban Cambiasso have a key role in these hybrids.

Follow our other league guide to easily build your hybrid team.

    1. Hi my current team is as follows 41212(2)

      GK: Handanovic
      RB: Abate (De Sciglio)
      LB: Ashley Cole (Armero)
      CB: Chellini (Bonucci IF)
      CB: Ogbonna (Caceras)
      CDM: De Rossi (De Jong)
      CM: Vidal (Guarin)
      CM: Marchiso (Diamanti)
      CAM: Di Natale (Valero IF)
      ST: Ballotelli
      ST: Cerci IF

Im currently struggling to stay in div one (used to be able to stay in comfortably) soi was wondering if you advise that i maybe change formation? if so to what? or should i maybe just improve my current team? again if so how.

Any and all help/suggestions are very much appreciated!

        1. I was having untold ammounts of success with this formation but recently ive been really struggling (getting battered 3/4 games in a row!) I had tevez as cam and found him to be pretty poor, should i try him upfront? also do you think i could move vidal to cdm,i worry becasue of his high/high work rates he may get caught out?

Also as a side note congrats on the site it is my number 1 website for all things fifa hope thing continue for fifa 15!

          1. Thank you. We will be stronger in FIFA 15.
If you played well with that formation for so many games, we don’t believe that it is the reason why we are no getting so good results now.
Maybe you should try Vidal, yes. Give him a chance.
            Regards

    2. Sorry for bringing bpl into this guide.

      This is my team
      Gk– loris and Cech
      CBS– vidic, Kompany and Luiz
Wingers– Willian, navas, schurlle and milner
      Cm — yaya, carzola, Wilshire
      Cam — Mata and nasri
St — Rooney, Suarez, eto and Jovetic

I would be happy if u would suggest some players such as not more expensive than Aguero ( around 110 k) .

      I play in 3412 formation.

      Regards.

    3. Fantastic Squad selection analysis, however I have to make some adjustments, I followed your recomendation exactly, but in game, I put to Buffon in my transfer list. In the game play buffon makes a lot of mistakes (basic ones) and Handanovic doesn’t. Same for Mario Gómez, and placeing as undoubtly titular player Mirko Vucinic with Balotelli.

Other opinion is about Armero, he is most efficient player over Radu and Constant (in game play of course) the most players creates a Bundesliga team so you need his speed. Funny because you place it as middfilder but in the most of the cards he is LB.

At last, Pirlo is a better option as first half player instead of the second half (generally in the second half you must go for everything or nothing).

      Thanks for your great work!

      1. Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate that a lot. I play most of my games with Seria A sides. Buffon has always performed good for me, even though some people say he makes to many mistakes Handanovic is fine, so is Marchetti.

The strikers depend on your style of play if you need height, strength and heading Gomez, Vucinic or Balotelli will all do fine. For me the best performing rare gold cards were Muriel and Ibarbo – both very speeding and average heading, but found them to be more in position than for example Gomez.

Wingerwise it again depends if you are a guy that like to cut inside to shot or if you prefer to cross. For cutting inside El Shaarawy or Cerci are best, if you like to cross go with Armero and Cuadrado. The Armero LB card in Seria A was only released after the world cup – before that he was only available as LM in Seria A or as LB in BPL (West Ham).

Now after the new transfers you have also Evra or Cole as LBs in Seria A.

A word on Pirlo too, this again depends on what kind of game you prefer, if you play a passing game, Piro is your man, if you need a central mid that can score too, then converting Tevez to a CAM is a good idea. The central midfield players are also highly depending on the formation you choose. For a 4-4-2 I would recommend Guarin and Hernanes as they both are good in offense and defense – Pogba and Vidal too.

        Hope that helps!

    4. now i need u suggestion about my whole team:
      currently i have
      4-3-3

      Gk:Buffon (Handanovic)
      Rcb: Abate (Maicon)
      Lcb: Constant (Criscito)
Cb: IF benatia, chielinni (Cáceres, Ogbonna)
      Lm:el sharawy (Asamoah)
      Rm: Cuadrado (Biabiany)
      Cm: Pirlo (montolivo)
      Rcm: Pogba (De rossi)
      Lcm: Vidal (Marchisio)
      St: baloteli (Tevez)
      (subs)

      1. RCM: i’m not sure if Pogba is any better than De rossi, but Pogba scored already more goals than him 🙂 ?
      2. CM: I’m not sure if Montolivo is any better than Hernanes, passing is better but not dribling and shooting; CM in 4-3-3 is like CAM?
      3. CB: I’m not sure if Barzagli can be better than any of CB subs – Cáceres, Ogbonna; before i had Barzagli for some time, but now cannot see any difference with these two guys; i think that he will be too slow against good 4-1-2-1-2 player, or can he be a good addition to other fast replacements backs as his defending stats are better than any backs replacement i have?

      thanks in advice

        1. Thank’s

          1. i’m not sure if he is better, but yes Pogba only scored more than him, but maybe De Rossi is better overal RCM
          2. i don’t see any Hernanes up in store, only basic 83, and some other 82
so currently i just continue with montolivo or better to replace him with basic Hernanes?
          3. small correction, my Benatia is TOTS 🙂 so he will stay 100% 🙂 whous you see is the next target?
          or just drop Barzagli?

          1. small correction, as i understood, UP players are GOLD, so i have all UP players but Benatia.
no basic (original ones) at all

          2. First, it seems that I missed the link of ‘this table’. Here it is.
            1. Pogba is better if you want someone to attack. De Rossi is better if you need someone to defend. In my opinion, in a 433, the CM that plays in the middle should have good defensive stats, just like De Rossi. If you want someone to RCM Pogba should be better.
            2. In fact it was my mistake. Hernanes got a new club card, not an UP card. CM is a 433 is not like a CAM. We recommend Vidal to that position: he knows how to attack but he also gives you points on the defence.
            3. Chiellini and Benatia are the best CB’s for Serie A. If you want someone to backup, Hugo Campagnaro IF is a good choice. Better than NIF Barzagli.
            Regards

            1. Thank’s again,

              1. clear
              2. I need Vidal on the left, he has good passing and defending skills,
on the center CM”s defence stats is not so important like on the wings imo, like Pirlo.
so if we leave alone Vidal, who can be the next best center CM to Pirlo?
              3. that confirmed my teory about these two 🙂 i alreadey have both of them, and need 2 another CB’s for backup. one to get deffinetely will be Hugo Campagnaro IF, thank’s again. Currently i have no coins to spend, and have only these 3 as reserves – Cáceres, Ogbonna and Barzagli, don’t need all 3, so i try to figure out which one to drop 🙂

            2. oih, u can skip answering 1-2 at the moment, as i had wrongly applied players to 4-3-3 attacking, but i play default one, so i need to review CMs positions. thanks

            3. now my new correct CM’s setup for 4-3-3 is
              rCM: Hernanes (Pogba)
              cCM: Vidal (De rossi)
              lCM: Hamšik (Marchisio)

            4. Thank’s U again.
what do u think about TOTS Immobile and TOTW36 Di Natale?
first one is so cheap and have right workrate as ST H/L, second one is also cheaper than TOTS Tevez
think to replace Tevez or Mario later.

            5. Sergej Immobile TOTS is good, has more strength that Di Natale. In my opinion the best striker for Seria A is IF Balotelli or TOTS Cerci… try those…

            6. Thank’s guys for your suggestions
              but

immobile is a litte more expencive than regular tevez,
but TOTS Cerci and IF balotelli, much more expensive cards. yes i see they are better 🙂 but can’t replace regular ones 🙂

    5. what do u think about using ST as LW?
for example di natale have better Winger attributes than el sharawy or asomoah

      thank’s for advice

        1. ok, we will lose some chemistry with “not preffered” position,
but will also gain chemistry as we will connect to other italian players + italian manager?
in case of asomoah i see no difference in chemistry change?

    6. i’m trying to cross team rating of 85+ with 100 chemistry
this is the squad i have with formation 4-3-1-2 and current rating 84 with 100 chemistry
      st balotelli 84
      st di natale 85
      cam hamsik 84
      cm vidal 86
      cm marchisio 84
      cm cerci 81
      lb criscito 80
      rb abate 78
      cb barzagli 84
      cb chiellini 86
      gk marchetti 84
subs – rooney, modric, cavani, kagawa, de gea, pogba and evra
reserves hernandez carrick young ogbonna honda

i have very good players in subs because if i put them in the 11 then the chemistry falls .. any advice to get the team rating to 85 plus and also how can i improve my squad ? or better utilize my players

        1. im trying to complete an achievement where it says if i win 2 matches with 85+ rating and 100 chemistry i get 3 gold packs
ill try getting buffon and see, thanx

    7. Hi Rodrigo,
I just started playing ultimate team and I have no idea who to buy. I have 250k. Who do you suggest that I should buy?
      Thank you for any advice.

      1. That’s a nice budget in these days. You can make a top squad from Serie A. Take a look to the unlimited budget of this page and replace some of the players by their UP and IF cards.

    8. Hi Rodrigo,
I was just wondering if you could give me some advice about my squad or any replacements I might need.
      4-1-2-1-2
      Gk de Sanctis tots
      Rb Maicon if
      Cb Benatia
      Cb chiellini
      Lb constant
      CDM Vidal
      Rm candreva tots
      Lm cuadrado if
      Cam cerci tots
      St tevez
      St Di natale
      Thank you

          1. In my opinion you should keep with this team. If you have coins, it is a good time to buy. Prices are very low at these days.
Take a look to a couple of IF cards, like Vidal, Chiellini, Benatia, etc…

    9. Hey Rodrigo.
Fantastic site and this is my first time to ask you a question, but this is my first time trying a 3-5-2 squad in Serie A, and i wonder, are Maicon TOTS gonna function good in the CB role? I`m considering him and Benatia and Chiellini. Please answer me 🙂

      1. Hi.
        Thank you.
We haven’t tried him in that position so we really don’t know. Looking to his stats, it seems that he can play really well in that position. He has everything that it is important to play as CB. However, don’t forget that his individual chemistry will be low. As you can see here the best he can gets is IC 5 plus 2 extra points from manager and loyalty.
        Regards

        1. Yeah, i know that his chemistry i going right down to hell, BUT as you mentioned, he has everything that is important to play as a CB, so i really dont care 😉 But thanks for heads up and i will come back to this site to look for inspiration!

    10. Hello rodrigo, you may not be answering any comments but what do you think of this team:formation: 3412
      Gk:Handanovic
Cbs: Up benatia, chielinni and barzagli
      Lm:el sharawy
      Rm:candreva
      Cm: hernanes montolivo
      Cam diamanti
      Sts:di natale baloteli
Btw, I have most of these players but deciding if I should get the rest, I can’t afford tevez yet so should I try to get him?
Thanks ps your guides are very useful but I don’t know if montolivo is a good replacement for pirlo

      1. Hi.
Your team is fine. You need to save to buy Tevez. He will be a great addition to play as CAM instead of Diamanti.
Pirlo is a good player but not for everyone. He is like Xavi. A bit slow but great in passing and vision. If you don’t like him, save for Vidal.
        Regards

    11. Rodrigo, thanks as always for all the great reads on this site. I’m debating my center 3 for a 4-3-3 (sometimes flat, sometimes with a CDM). Currently have Vidal UP – De Rossi – Marchisio. Any suggestions for other variations? Debating whether to try and work in Hernanes or Pogba on either side, or even Pirlo in the middle (but afraid me defense will suffer). Thanks again!

    12. I have a BPL team, and use 4-2-3-1. My 3 CAM are Rooney, Van Persie, and Mata. Any suggestions on who should be left, center, and right?
Huge fan of your articles by the way

    13. Thanks for your fast answer to my question and explaining why it’s better to run with the 4-3-3 formation. I’ve also been looking to the three players you have mentioned. If i choose Pogba as one of my CM’s which player should i replace for him?

At the moment i’m aiming towards this squad since it’s in my budget range: https://www.futhead.com/14/squads/11204097/ . In a 4-3-3 is Balotelli or Tevez the better striker?

Also i was wondering about the chemistry styles of a team. I’ve been reading your guide about this and one question came to my mind. Applying a chem style to a player only increases some of his attributes or also his behaviour on the pitch?

Last question i’ve got is a general one. The only reason i choose a Serie A squad to play was because of my favorite player. In terms of effectiveness for a 4-3-3 squad is the Serie A the best league or is the Barclays PL or Liga BBVA a better option?

Hope you don’t mind answering these question.
      Thanks in advance!

      1. Hi again.
        1) Hernanes.
        2) Chemistry styles is a redistribution of the attributes. It affects the way they play in the pitch.
        3) BBVA and BPL are better, specially because the fullbacks of Serie A are not great players. The problem is these two leagues are much more expensive.

        Regards

        1. Did i understood right, that for Series A it is a better to play 4-1-2-1-2 than 4-3-3?
even now, as there are some up and if card for backs

    14. Hello,

I’ve just purchased the game and started playing with the basic cards. After i collected around 25.000 coins i decided to make a new squad with my favorite player in it, thats Pirlo.

Been reading trough the tips section and this Serie A guide of yours, but im having a hard time making my new squad.

I’ve decided to make a team around my favorite player (Pirlo), that means a Serie A team. As formation i’ve decided to go for a 4-3-3 OR 4-3-3 (5), have no clue whats better.

I’ve been building two different squads in the squad creator for my formation and wanted to ask if it would be possible to give me any tips.

      Formation 4-3-3: https://www.futhead.com/14/squads/11160493/
      Formation 4-3-3 (5): https://www.futhead.com/14/squads/11160160/

      Thanks in advance!

      1. Welcome to our website.
The main difference between these formations is the false 9 (you can see more about formations HERE). We believe that not using a ST is a bad idea since Serie A has great players for this position, like Tevez, Balotelli and Di Natale.
About your team, you may not have coins for all these players but take a look to Benatia SIF, Vidal UP and Pogba SIF.
        Regards

    15. 4-2-3-1:
      Gk-Marchetti
      Cb-David Luiz/Chiellini
      Rb-Abate
      LB-Marcelo
      CDM’s-Hernanes and Vidal
CAM’s- Di Natale, Guarín and Hamsik
      St-Klose

every player has 10 chemistry except David Luiz (8).
My doubt is if a should choose Tevez or Balo instead of Hamsik and if a should trade Klose for Falcão?

(I choose the CAM’s mostly because of the shoot)

      1. Hi Ricardo.
You definitely should try Tevez as CAM. However, Falcão instead Klose is not an option because of his chemistry. If you want to try something different, use Balotelli in that position.

        1. I just put Falcão as an option because it makes chemistry with guarin and since I have a Colombian coach his chemistry is 8 and only drops the chemistry of di natal to 8 and all the others are 10

    16. Sooooo sorry but I rly need 2 ask this cos the bpl guide is filled upwith comments

Who shld I buy to improve, I have this sqaud and a budget of 100kim a massive fan of ur work btw.
      Gk-lloris
      Cb-vidic/kompany
Rb-lahm (need a better RB, he’s not so good)
      LB-jordi alba(awesome pace,pace,pace)
      CDM- yaya toure
      Cm-ozil/mata
      Rw-Jesus navas
      Lw-willian
      St-AGUERO!!!
      Regards, Jamie

      1. Hi.
You need a RB. Lahm is not good for your chemistry. Squad chemistry is not the only thing that is important. Individual chemistry is more important than that. Check the Alba chemistry too.
We guggest Micah and Clichy for their positions.
The rest of the team is OK. We prefer David Silva than Ozil, but it is OK.

        1. Thnx, shld I buy walker instead of Richards cos I played against a team with him and I couldnt run down the wing with willian because of him

    17. Hi,

      I have a 3-4-1-2 squad with
      GK: Buffon
      CB Barzagli Benatia UP Chiellini
RM Candreva CM Vidal, Pirlo LM El Sharaawy
      CAM Di Natale
      ST Tevez, Balotelli

Do I need to change something or is this good enough

    18. I have a 3412 squad with Ogbonna Chiellini Caceres defense and vidal and De rossi. Do you recomend swapping any defenders out or de rossi for a more attacking cm?

      1. Hi.
If you have coins to spend, try Benatia SIF. Great CB!
I think you may try to replace De Rossi by Marchisio. Try it. If you don’t like it, you can still go back again.

    19. Hello Rodrigo, what do You think about that 352 squad
      GK: Buffon 86
      CBs: Caseres 80, Chiellini 86, Benatia 84
      CDMs: Vidal 86, Pogba 81
      RM: Cuadrado 81
      LM: El Shaarawy 81
      CAM:
STs: Balotelli 84, IF Higuain 86
and there’s question about CAM, who should I use, Di Natale, Tevez, IF Kaka, or maybe someone else?
      Greetings.

    20. Hi. Good review! What do you think Rodrigo, who is good for cam in a 4222 formation? Tevez, Di Natale, Heranes? Maybe Pirlo?

    21. Hi Rodrigo,

I loved your website, especially this article and the Formations guide. Immensely helpful for new players, like me. Thank You!

I have been playing with the 4-3-3(4) formation and Serie A squad and it has been good for me so far. I like to run through the wings into the attacking half, and play with the ball, keeping possession with rapid successive short passes around the box until I find a great shooting position. I am very patient with the ball when in the attacking half.

Recently, I have been wanting to experiment with a 2 striker formation, like the 4-1-2-1-2 wide and the 4-4-2. I played 2 games each with both these formations and my favorite 4-3-3(4) formation with the same team and against the same team, the TOTW. With 4-3-3(4), the scoreline was 3-0 in both games. With, 4-1-2-1-2, it was 2-0 in both. And with 4-4-2, it was 4-1 in both. I hate conceding goals more than I love scoring them, so 4-1 is a worse scoreline for me than the 3-0.

Now, I felt the 2 striker formations are a bit more fun, but it appears that the 4-3-3(4) is best suited to my style of play. Can you recommend any other 2-striker formation that can give me better results than 4-1-2-1-2 and 4-4-2, for my style of play?

        1. Ok, thanks. Can you take a look at my squad, and make any suggestions if you can. Apart from the mentioned substitutes, I have Vucinic, Cuadrado, Criscito and Konko in my reserves. Here it is:

          https://www.futhead.com/14/squads/9219866/

I was thinking about getting Pirlo, but Marchisio and Guarin seem better than him overall. I may end up getting him once I have enough coins to fill up the last spot in my reserves. Abate’s less than average passing stats ended up against his favor and anyways, I am not a big user of high pace which is evident from my preference of Candreva over Cuadrado.

          1. Hi.
Pirlo is an amazing player to gamers with your profile. However, he should play on the centre and you already have a good player as CAM (Di Natale). Maicon is also a good choice.
In fact, I don´t think you need to change anything. Your team looks really great. Very balanced quality team.
            Regards

    22. William Johnsen

Hey Rodrigo. Very Nice review. Can you make me a bpl serie a hybrid Squad in 5-2-1-2 please?

      1. Thank you.
Sorry, but right now we need to spend our time on new guides and articles. To make a good hybrid squad is something that can take us several hours.
        Hope you understand.
        Regards

    23. Handkovic is best no arugement
      Abate/maicon as Rb
      Benatia
Chellini these two rarely make mistakes like jerks when opponent launch throw ball ,benatia will give heading goal as well, ogbona, cascares better sub than barzahli
      Constant/radu

      Cdm
      Marchiso and vidal

Marchiso best at defending he wnt allow strikers to shoo from edge of box at rebounds

Vidal give great attacking he make run throuhg wings and passing is great as well

      Lm asamoh/armero/el sharwey

      Cam jose calegon/naindgolan/honda

      Rm cuardrado/cecri/candreva

      ST muriel

      ST IBARBO

if u have armero and cuardrdo as your two wingers stick with this two guys they will make those runs all the time bboth good with heads,u can have gurain as well as cdm

Balo/pirlo is better but these two guys, jose callegon will helps you alot but lot depending on your finishing

Unless rebounds we hardly have chance to fancy our chances i bet u these two st wont disapoint u after all

Any advice is welcomed thanks and keep up the good work

      1. Thank you!
Why to change ? If you are winning, keep with that team!
In my opinion, you already have a top Serie A team and you can not improve it much more except buying the UP and IF cards. Don’t have any suggestion besides that.
        Regards

    33. Hi roderigo. I’m making a 4-3-3 false nine. I’m using buffon, if benatia, chiellini, if maicon, radu, de rossi as the cdm, sharaawy. I can’t decide who my two cm’s should be and who I should use as the cf and rw. Who do you recommend?

    34. Hi rodrigo great guide

      1. Hi.
It depends of your play style, budget, preferences, etc…
You have a good cheap team but you should try to save more coins to buy players like Kompany or Nani.

I was wondering how can i do it better?

            1. Di Natale still seems to be much better than Balo, but Rooney plays great as a ST thanks to his good heading. Eto’o can jump well but his heading isnt great so Rooney is one of the few good header options for BPL. If you have the money try Rooney and Eto’o or Rooney and Suarez for BPL, or Balo and Di Natale for Serie A.

    36. What do you think about IF Mertens as a CF or even ST? Other than his awful heading he seems to be a good player for the position. Also, I think Mertens is better than Asamoah, Zuniga, and Armero. Why didnt he make the list of top 5?

    37. In your opinion, the Serie A would be better in formation 4-1-2-1-2 or 4-1-2-1-2(2)?

    38. Hi Rodrigo, I have question concerning ST in BPL. I play with 2 ST and I need to chose which 2 should I use. I consider 82 Adebayor, 82 Benteke, 85 Soldado, 82 Giroud and 81 Lukaku (these are all IF – i wrote overall rating so that you know which IF I exactly mean) or ie. Suarez 88 or RVP 89 are better? Could you please help me chose? 🙂

    39. Beast Kakatopoulous

Hi, I am playing a 4-2-3-1 (2) give me some suggestions on this team.
      Handonovic
      Abate Caceres Barzagli Radu
      Guarin Nainggolan
      Cuadrado Diamanti El Shaarawy
      Vucinic

        1. Beast Kakatopoulous

So you think I should switch Caceres and Barzagli for Benatia and Chiellini. And Vidal should come in for naingollan or guarin. I’m not sure if I can do that I hav a 35K budget tell me wat team I can make wit that much money. I want to keep my formation

          1. Hi.
Yes, I know that you have a limited budget. But 35k coins is more than enough to buy these 3 players. By the way, Vidal is to replace Naingollan in our opinion.
            Regards

    40. Hey !

I am playing with the 3-4-1-2 Formation and here is my squad
      Marchetti
      Caceres. Campagnaro. Ogbonna

      Maggio. Nainggolan. Guarin. Asamoah

      Diamanti

      Muriel. Ibarbo

Can you give me some tips which Player i should buy
For my defence? I thought about chiellini left,
Barzagli in the middle and caceres right? Is it a good idae?

Then i thought about a good RM and CM
Who Would you prefer in the CM Position?
Who is the best CAM i should use?

      Greets

      1. Hi.
Your defense is OK as you are suggesting but we think it may be better using Benatia UP instead of Caceres.
Use Tevez as CAM and Vidal as CM. Cuadrado is a good RM if you like pacey players.
        Regards

    41. Hey, do you think this a good team for 4-1-2-1-2 (2); should I change anything:

      GK: 84 Handanovic
      LB: 78 Radu
      LCB: 84 Benatia
      RCB: 86 Chiellini
      RB: 78 Abate
      CDM: 84 De Rossi
      LCM: 81 Guarin
      RCM: 84 Marchisio
      CAM: 83 Hernanes
      LST: 84 Balotelli
      RST 83 Vucinic

Some other Serie A players I already have are 84 Hamsik, 82 Palacio, 79 Pogba, 84 Montolivo, 80 Caceres and 78 Armero.

Players I am thinking of getting: 86 Tevez, 85 Vidal, 81 Pogba, 85 Di Natale, 79 Konko, 78 Maicon.

      1. Chiellini, UP Benatia and Balotelli are definitely not leaving my side by the way, there are in my opinion the most must-have players.

        1. I’m going to swap out Vucinic for Tevez when I have enough money to buy Tevez, but where would Vidal be best suited in my team (who would I swap out for him)? Also, do you think upgraded Pogba or Di Natale are worthwhile in buying? I’ve heard Di Natale is really weak, so even if he has incredible stats he is not actually as good as he appears. Upgraded Pogba also seems awesome, but not better than the likes of Vidal, Guarin and Marchisio from looking at the players’ cards.

          1. Hi.
Di Natale may be a good back up player but Balotelli and Tevez are both better players. He may also play as CAM.
Vidal should play on the Guarin position. He is much better than Pogba so don’t waste your coins.
            Regards

    42. A good team for performance with a 4-3-3 classic formation, with a budget 20 00o coins from serie a and bpl hybrid.

How to play with this 4-3-3, crosses, passing , counter-attack, offside-trap, ultra attacking, balanced?

      1. GK: Handanovic
        RB: Abate
        RCB: Campagnaro
        LCB: Kaboul
        LB: Clichy
        RCM: Hernanes
        CM: Ramires
        LCM: Coutinho, Fernandinho, Oscar, etc.
        RW: Cuadrado
        ST: Gomez
        LW: Schurrle
Might need to save some coins, also functional in 433 HOLD.

    43. Benatia UP and Chiellini are your top 2 defenders now right? I got his SIF card while it was rated 84. Half its current price. 🙂

    44. What do you think about this team?
      Formation: 4-3-3(2)
      GK: Handanovic
      RB: Abate
      CB: Caceres
      CB: Chiellini
      LB: Criscito
      CDM: Pirlo
      CM: Vidal
      CM: Marchisio
      RW: Candreva
      LW: El Shaarawy
      ST: Balotelli
Where do you think I can improve?

    45. Am using a 4-3-1-2 Squad
      GK Buffon
      RB Abate
      CB Chiellini
      CB ”upgraded” Benatia
      LB Constant
      CM Marchisio
      CM Vidal
      CM ”upgraded” Pogba
      CAM Di Natale
      ST Tevez
      ST Balotelli
      What do you think?

            1. Is this better
              Buffon
              Abate. Chiellini. UP Benatia. Constant.
              cuadrado. cdm Vidal. Elshaarawy.
              cam DI NATALE
              Tevez. Balotelli
              OR this
              Buffon
              Abate. Chiellini. UP Benatia. Consatant
              marchisio. vidal. hernanes.
              di natale.
              Tvez. Balotelli.

            2. Both are good for different things. 41212 1 and 2? My favorite is the 2nd option but Di Natale might be better as an ST with pirlo in your midfield due to the lack of need for crossing and therefore heading in STs. I prefer it simply due to the lack of relatively high quality wingers in this league which is made up for in the midfield. For your middle 4 de rossi CDM pirlo LCM Vidal/Marchisio RCM and hernanes as CAM might be a good combination.

        1. Thank u for ur replays, but already i have a squad, read my post “25”‘.
          Upgraded with:
          Pogba, Biabiany,Coutinho, Benteke, Fellaini, Cantreva.

When I writed “I only have 10k coins”, I asked what to change in my squad, what to buy with 10k coins.

If u are a good player, tell me what to do because I cant pass division 7; should i buy a controller? Now i,m playing with a keyboard.

          1. For me………playing with the controller is much more comfortable.
Maybe the problem isn’t the keyboard if you can play with it.
Try to change players that you think isn’t comfortable with your playstyle.
If you can get even 5k squad which satisfy you and your playstyle…..this will make you able to pass even div.1

          2. But I think you also have a problem in you defensive line-up
            abiatti. radu. criscito
            try
Handanovic. Constant. Abate OR De Sciglio
also i prefer Caceres over Ogbonna

          3. tell me your whole budget and playstyle and i’ll tell the best serie a team for ypur budget

            1. Before serie A, i had a 30-40k BPL,same problem-stuck in division 7 – i deleted the club. Now i bought a controller (it is harder now), u r right, my problems are not thekeyboard or the team, i am playing fifa since fifa 2005.

I restarted my ultimateteam from begining with a serie a concept (i think i.m gonna do a hybrid with bpl, after i saw the serie A squad, I had same div 7 stuck)

              My players:

Abbiati (i sold Handanovic-i dont like it)

              Radu,Criscito, Barzagli, Ogbonna, Ranocchia, Zaccardo, De Sciglio;

De rossi, Cambiasso, Kuzmanovic, Pogba, Montolivo, Marchissio, Ledesma, Cantreva, Biabiany, Kaka + bpl Coutinho, Fellaini

Totti, Rossi, Gomez, Pato (is not serie a or bpl or italian, i like it, it has chemistry 1, so it is most of time on bench, only when i play with kaka i prefer it), + bpl Benteke, Stturidge.

Now i have 20k, but i dont think I’m gonna buy other players, Rodrigo told me to take Vidal, I think it’s to expensive, and he don’t gonna help me so much. I saw on youtube players with cheap xi who r playing in first divisions so… don’t matters so much the players value.
              My style…it’s hard to say. I can play 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1(2), 41212(2), 5-3-2.
I’m a slow men with low ennergy, if you understand what I mean.
              Cheers, my friend.

    46. Thank u for ur tips, i have a serie a squad i am playing 4-1-2-1-2(2) or 4-3-3,with abbiati-radu-barzagli-ogbonna-criscito-de rossi-montolivio-marchisio-totti-gomez-rossi also i own kaka, milito, cambiasso, mexes, de sciglio, handanovic, kuzmanovic, ledesma, pato. I can’t pass division 7, whAt shoul i change, i have tried almost every formations. I am a keyboard player is this a mistake (snag) really should i buy a xbox controller, what do u thing? It is a must have – Xbox 360 controller?

      1. Hi.
I do not agree with Benzema. I know he is a great player but individual chemistry 7 is too low. If you want to keep him, buy a BBVA or French manager to give one extra chemistry point.
I also think that there are better players to the CAM position than Ibarbo. Again: I know that he is a great player but to this position pace is not so important as in other positions. Tevez, for example, is a better choice.
To the LB position check if Criscito is better for you or not.
        Regards

    47. Hi Rodrigo, really like the website.
I am building a team based on the French Ligue-1 (Some are brazilian players from other leagues). It is a 4-1-2-1-2(1) and this is what it looks like
      GK – IF Alves
      LB – IF Bedimo
      CB – IF Alex
      CB – Thiago Silva
      RB – Dani Alves
      CDM – Matuidi
      LM – Lavezzi
      RM – Lucas
      CAM – SIF Rodriguez
      ST – Falcao
      ST – Cavani

      I have two questions.
First, should I choose Sirigu over IF Alves at GK or should I stick with IF Alves?
Second, is IF Alex a good choice at CB or is he too slow? Would an IF Marquinhos or Nkoulou be a better choice?

      Also any other suggestions?

      1. Hi.
In my opinion you should keep with the regular cards: Sirigu and Nkoulou. IF Alex is a amazing card for formations with 5 defenders. He is too slow to play in a 4xx. Sirigu is a great GK. Keep with him.

    48. Hi a couple of players that I like to use in my squad (rotation off the bench) in addition to all those mentioned above;
      Pogba – CM
      Iturbe – LW
      Raphael Martinho – LWB

    49. Hi Rodrigo,I am playing with bpl,but comments are closed. My first team:
      Cech-GK
      David Luiz-CB
      Kompany-CB
      Walker-RB
      Clichy-LB
      Toure-CM
      Rooney-CM
      Suarez-CM
      van Persie-ST
      Navas-RW
      Willian-LW
I want to have good second team. Now I have got 280k but I don’t know who to buy.Can you help me please?

      1. Hi.
The comments are closed because we already have answered questions like this. You can find the answer to this question there.
Anyway, try David Silva. He is a much better CM.

    50. As promised in bbva guide, here is my (probably best possible) team. 4-4-1-1.
GK: Handanovic (Buffon’s diving seems laughable on iOS)
      LB: Constant
      LCB: Chiellini
RCB: SIF Benatia (75 PAC 90 DEF 87 HEA)
      RB: SIF Maicon
      LM: El Shaarawy
      LCM: Pirlo
      RCM: Montolivo
RM: Candreva (my fav for the position)
      CF: Di Natale
      ST: Tevez/Balotelli

      Most expensive player: SIF Benatia
      Best Bargain: SIF Maicon (5k)

    51. Hi Rodrigo,

      Thx for the Guide.
I’m thinking of making around 100k hybrid squad with Serie A and Bundesliga! Formation -4-3-3 (4)

      My Plan is to get:

      GK- Handanovic
      Left CB- Chiellini
      Right CB- Hummels
      LB- Radu
      RB- Piszczek
      Left CM- Vidal
      Right CM- Gundogan
      CAM- Di Natale
      LW- El Shaarway
      RW- Muller
      ST-Balotelli

What do you think of my team?
      Any Changes?
      THANKS

        1. Gomez is good for a bundesliga serie hybrid, but Balotelli is a better striker unless you cross a LOT. Still, if you dont have all 10 chem in the offensive end, Gomez is a choice to consider. Blaszczycowski is also better balanced with El Shaarawy, but most people say Muller is better. If you want more pace and better balance consider him, but note that he wont connect well with Gomez.

        1. 16th sounds great! So soon? I almost expected something like late 20ths or even March. 😀

        2. hi rodrigo!
when will the guide be published? hopefully this weekend!
          thanks for your great work!
          greets

          1. Sorry.
            It will be published Sunday.
It was ready to publish last Sunday but we do not had enough RTs.
This time we will publish. It is a promise. And there will be more guides very soon..

    52. A doubt about overall of players. How do ea calculate them,Because after adding all stats of Buffon(86) and Handanovic(84) ,Handanovic is having better stats! How is that?

    53. I’m trying to fill the middle 3 of a 4-3-3(2) and I’m debating between Vidal – De Rossi (CDM) – Hernanes, or moving Vidal to the CDM and using Marchisio or Hamsik on the other side. What would you suggest? Thanks again for all your great work.

    54. Great Guide ! Can we expect an all Italian or Spanish or British players guide, similar to the one of all Brazilian players ? (regardless of the league they play in)

      1. Oh… these guides are not easy to do. Right now I am thinking publishing the Ligue 1 guide. I don’t know if I will publish another nation guide. If I do, it will be the British players.
I will work hard to meet your expectations.
        Regards

        1. Thank you for all your hard work…id still be struggling to break 10k coins and have a terrible squad without it 🙂

    55. Hi Rodrigo,

Wonderful guide and well timed as I was just working on a Serie A team. I lucked out and pulled an IF Lichtsteiner and utilize him at RM over Cuadrado. While not as Pace-y and a little less ball control his higher stats with Passing, Crosses and Defending makes me feel very comfortable. While not exactly cheap, he’s not priced out too much either can be had for about 17k coins on most days.

    56. What do you think of Hernanes at CAM?
And what about Marchisio at CDM? (more pace!)

      1. Hernanes is one of the first choices to CAM position.
Marchisio can play as CDM, yes. But if you have enough coins, use Vidal to that position. If you want someone to help the defence, use De Rossi.

        1. Thanks for the answer! I bought Vidal for CDM, and i save coins for Pirlo to CAM. I have Balo on subs, and Di Natale + Tevez as strikers

        1. Looks fixed, thanks!
Does that change your recommendation of Cuadrado at all, since this is an area he struggles in a bit?

Personally, I’ve had the best luck with Candreva, though I know that many people prefer some more speed on the wings.

    57. Great guide, have you used the if totti? Do you think he would be better than pirlo in cam? Thanks.

        1. Okay thanks, pirlo’s one of the best players I’ve ever used but if totti has 89 shooting 90 passing and 86 dribbling

          1. For 8x the price of pirlo. Passing and dribbling is what matters and pirlo has better passing and not much worse dribbling. His shooting is sufficient. So no need for IF totti.

            1. Okay yeah I see your point, however I do notice a big difference between 89 and 76 shooting, I think I might just switch to a formation that let’s me use them both

            2. Most CAMs dont need much shooting. Totti is a better CF by all means. But CAMs are responsible for assists in many 2ST formations or setting up a cross, but thanks to defenders in the nearby area they need good dribbling. Not much shooting, especially with slow players. You may not want to buy-sales are few and far between on him.

        2. awesomeshreyo

Honda is the most OP CAM in the history of OP and CAMs. He’s brilliant if he has good fitness, otherwise he kind of sucks.

    58. Nice squad guide I was very anxious waiting for it. I think you misswrite on writing Manuel Neuer, wasn’t it supposed to be Buffon?

    59. A little surprised you chose Buffon over Handanovic! Nice guide, some unexpected choices though. Didnt expect abate over maicon either. 1st comment! 🙂 Striker must have been a very difficult choice. Di Natale, Gomez, Balotelli, and Tevez are all very good, and Klose is the Mandzukic and Falcao of serie a. Very good STs play here

      1. Whoa…just realized there are no italian players or repeating nationalities in the 15k squad. Mind blown… :0

      2. Hi.
I know many players prefer Handanovic over Buffon but it is not my opinion. As I published, “The Inter’s goalkeeper is a good alternative for who can’t lives with the low reflexes of Buffon”.
Maicon is a great player. Very balanced and with good stats. But when we play with him, he seems a bit slow for that position. And pace is something very important to most of players (your play style may be different).
Strikers are a difficult choice, yes. I think Gomez is not as good as the other three but he is a really good buy by his price.
        Regards

        1. Kinda ironic that Gomez isnt as good because he is the most popular choice. SIF Maicon is what i have, got him really cheap and i prefer him to abate. Very nice guide. Perhaps on iOS the pace difference isnt as severe? Either way the guide is all an opinion.

            1. I think the only difference is wf, skill moves, and the hidden stats (cant see them in iOS and cant tell if they apply)

      3. Gomez is the worst striker on ultimate team. I tried him many times butstill fails me. He is good at heading only. Tevez is the best in serie A. Di natali is very good aswells. Thank you Mr Rodrigo for the serie A squad guide.
